PEACE UP! A TOWN DOWN!

Sunday, August 30, 2009

This is cool, but someone really had way too much time on their hands...

Haha that's how I'd look like if my face were perfectly symmetrical. And for once the background is my new room! Red glossy cabinets and built-in wooden shelves.

Watched Final Destination 4 (3D), it was just gory gory gory and gory. But it was still entertaining in a very wow-what-surreal-ways-to-die! Spent the night after imagining all kinds of scenarios in which we could possibly die wherever we were. My death was to be dying from a heart attack seeing everyone else die -_-

Watched The Proposal a while back too, Sandra Bullock's so cute. I liked the film quite a lot; how often would you see Sandra Bullock dancing to Lil' Jon and the East Side Boyz's Get Low anyway (to jolt your memory- "TO THE WINDOW, TO THE WALL! Till the sweat drips down my balls! Till all these bitches crawl!" etc etc).

Semi-bored of driving. Having to go into 3 car parks (and 3 point turn-ing out) at NUS before finding a lot isn't funny. And do you know much parking costs?! I spent $25 on the Cashcard in 4 days!

Okay bye! Gonna go play Sims3!

This was so long ago (end June) but I've nothing else to blog about anyway and I can make use of my new $25/yr Photobucket Pro...

Anyway Sonia and I did a show at Zouk for Christina's ex-art teacher who became a designer. The overall theme was animals and humans or humans one with nature or something? So we had feathers glued to our eyelashes and birds in our hair etc.
Another segment of the show had girls wearing ANIMAL HEADS, luckily ours was the most normal by comparison already...

Natalia.

Hehezxz Sonia Mao.

Haha that's me, I was first up.

Mao mao on the left. We all got pretty cool shoez to wear.

Shuz.

Second outfit.

It is very short... but I am wearing shorts.

With Eunice Fu, I think she was unlucky enough to get one of the animal heads!!!

The shuz I wore, the sexzxz. But it really hurt- like the rubber band marks stayed on my foot for ages afterwards.

"Laziness can be changed."
"I'll let you know."

Canteen food at NUS kind of sucks. They've everything you can find outside - tempura udon, fish&chips, thai food.. etc - at a quarter of the price, but at a fragment of the quality/taste. Seriously, so far I haven't really found anything actually worth its salt.
And does anyone know if there's a proper bubble tea shop in NUS? Not one of those student operated pre-packed-bubble-tea-kept-in-styrofoam-boxes kinds, but the real stuff.

Geography tutorial and Philosophy lecture later. I only just discovered I'm 2 chapters behind for Philosophy. Goodnight.

Omg so annoyed I've no idea why all the Photobucket images just died, I am nowhere near exceeding bandwidth or had rearranged photos or anything! ANGRY >:( is anyone else having this problem?

Photobucket:
"Bandwidth is not a measure of how many images are in your album. Rather, it is a measure of how many times the images in your album are being viewed from locations on the Internet where you have posted links to your media.

Bandwidth is cumulative over time and does not go down until it is reset. Your bandwidth usage resets to 0 each month on the anniversary of the day that you originally registered."

UGH so howz!

[/edit]
Updatezzx!
I just paid for Photobucket Pro omg loser. It's around $25 per year. That's $2+ a month; it's quite okay right?

Absolutely nothing is happening in my life.
Hmm maybe except that since my Mom's on holiday, I have the car all to myself! Eggcited! I drove to school today! And then to Holland V! Then back to NUS! Then to Parkway Parade! Then to Suntec! (This overwhelming enthusiasm is pathetic)! I take my accomplishments as they come!

Tried watching My Fair Lady for the umpteenth time again yesterday (my mom mouthed along with the dialogue...) but it got too boring after Audrey Hepburn finally learns to speak good Engrish.

School is... absolutely nondescript. I need to stop buying $2.50 curry puffs just because that's the cheapest edible thing to my lecture theatre.

soapz; says: (1:05:47 AM)
haha but no seriously like there'd be an empty seat beside me, but everyone rather sit on the floor than beside me HAHAHAHA

Hmm Southeast Asian Studies lecture tomorrow morning. Yes I do have friends (omg plural!) for that lecture.

Eww Tomorrow's Monday

Went down to Dhoby Goat (Addie) for the SMU flea!
On the surface it looks damn dead like shit where are the stalls? But go down the escalator and it's a mass of makeshift stalls woohoo happy.
2 necklaces, 1 top, 1 bracelet and $40 later, we walked over to the museum to wait for Alvin and Rudy to pick us up.

Here my camera went really wonky. Like the focus totally died and my camera kept vibrating hahaha. It's so cracked and dented from all the times I dropped it. $550 sob but it's 2+ years old anyway.
So you'll only get blurry shots of me *GaSp* what a loss ):

Photobucket

I was just innocently standing on the pavement when Alvin suddenly drove up behind me omg haha mega :o
Like yeah he drove up onto Singapore National Museum pavement another :o wah bAdaSsszxzzx

The only way they'd be the same height.

All down to Holiday Inn at night where Caleb spontaneously walked right up to the concierge and booked a room for the night. Some screaming + Chivas later and the host mega conked out haha funny.

Oh as for why I switched to Photobucket- and thus one can no longer click on the photos for the full-sized version to see my pores up close and personal, I simply ran out of space on Blogger!
"You are currently using 940MB (91%) of your 1024MB"
Yeah okay I've 9% left but who wants to see my pores anyway? Tata.

SGSELLTRADE

Thursday, August 20, 2009
Was doing the usual browsing on sgselltrade.livejournal.com (a buying and selling community) and I dunno, I just decided to highlight some things that we always laugh about:

#1
Some people sell complete crap. Really really ugly stuff like from when you were young and stupid and in the fashion-disaster transition zone. Stuff like hideous polo tees or spag tops or tshirts with the ugliest print you can think of, but multiplied by ten. We all have that kind of crap in our closet. So why would I want to have more of it (and not even for free)??

#2
THE RETARDED CAPTIONS- complete lies that are so pathetically veiled. Nonsense like "takes u frm day to nite" for some plain, basic spag top, "still considering keeping this for myself cause it's really nice" for some really fugly thing or "much prettier in real life". It might look better in real life, but it's still ugly. OH and lines like "Topshop/F21/ASOS/etc inspired", like yeah, maybe if I were blind I'd see the similarity. I mean, who do you really think you are convincing?

#3
Just because something is old doesn't mean you can try to jack up the price by calling it "vintage"! Most of the time it's just the same fashion-disaster crap, except from our parents' era instead (which is sometimes even uglier).

#4
There are those who negotiate for everything, even when the item is only selling at $4 (seriously I saw). I don't even really understand why someone would bother selling something that's only worth $4, like it's hardly worth the effort of taking pictures and mailing the item out and etc, but people haggling for another $1 off...

#5
The worst about people selling ugly crap is that some of them even aspire to sell it at a relatively high price, using aforementioned excuses to try and justify it. "I'd really rather keep this for myself". Oh you self-sacrificing dear, what a great favor you are doing to the fashion community! Some lucky girl out there will get your marvelous piece of clothing and you can rest well tonight knowing you've just upped your karma points.

#6
Oh and those with the SUPER generous measuring tapes who say that xxx item can fit girls from size UK4 to UK 10 or from size UK6 to UK12. There is a huge difference between a UK4 and a UK 10! Okay for things like oversized tees or smocked tube dresses, that's fine. But I just saw that estimation for a BIKINI. A bikini that fits a UK4 girl (for reference Addie is 156cm-tiny and she's a UK6) will NOT fit a UK10!

Some random items, all in a day's work. Would you buy these?
Very visible ink marks.

If you got it free maybe you'd cut it up, sew it, patch it, whatever. But you wouldn't pay for it right?

Haha sorry I sound kind of nasty in this whole post!
If you're guilty of any of the above, well.. I know you're trying to clear your closet but it really might be easier to just donate it, unless there are girls buying for their young prepubescent sisters to go through their own fashion-disaster stages (but then again there's always the hand-me-downs).

And if it's really so coincidental that you happen to be the person selling one of the above... welllllllll.... I just don't think anyone's gonna buy it :/

But anyway, you can find really nice things on sgselltrade.livejournal.com, so have heart my friend; go join! The more members then the more buying/selling opportunities I'd have too woohoo.

P.S. I've only gotten round to doing a selling post once haha. Generally, I buy $_$

Photobucket
By the way beanbags are pretty useless. They end up serving as a dumping ground for clothes and miscellaneous items. Bye-bye!

HI HAVE Y'ALL HEARD ABOUT:

Photobucket

Exclusive for NSFs and students!

Broadband on Mobile Youth Plan allows you to access the Internet anywhere and anytime; for BOTH your handphone and laptop! With the current promotion (only $14.50 per month) it's really worth it!

You know how at some places you can't connect to any wireless network, even Wireless@SG? Well with Broadband on Mobile Youth Plan, you'll always have Internet access regardless of where you are and whether you are using your phone, or laptop.

I have a MacBook, so this is pretty useful for me (:

The plan comes with a data sim card and a portable modem that's really light and small like a thumbdrive.

Although being able to go online using your phone is great, there's some stuff you can only access on your laptop- like Facebook games/applications, YouTube (videos on phones still aren't THAT clear) and other full-fledge websites.
Like for me, here are some of the games I usually play on Facebook:

Photobucket

I remember how everyday in SAJC, Clair or I would be like "EH I beat your score last night!"
But then it hit the point I couldn't beat her anymore so I never accepted her challenge haha. I can't get even anywhere NEAR my high-score now (44 917) Anagram Cyborg oOOooHh. The top 3 on my friend list are insane like how do you get 6 digit high-scores?!
With BroadBand on Mobile Youth Plan, I can now practise and challenge Clair anytime, anywhere I want.

Photobucket
Pet Society! I play this once in a while, I want a chair just like that for my room too so cutez.

*When you want to go online using your laptop:
Simply plug the modem into your laptop! And da-dum you have seamless Internet connection.

For students, Broadband on Mobile Youth Plan allows you to access websites that are restricted by your school firewalls. Sometimes schools restrict access to even legitimate websites like blogs, MSN or websites you Googled and neeeeeed to visit for research/projects. Someone once told me their school even blocked Neopets? Like what the?

All in all, you'll be entirely free from limitations of surfing the internet! Be it lack of Wi-fi spots or website restrictions, you'll have full control to go online wherever and whenever you want to.

Photobucket
My current desktop, which Rudy self-adorned... And yeah I've quite a lot of random nonsense on it.

Having Internet access all the time can be pretty important. Neopets (haha)/Blogger/Twitter/etc aside, I was really lucky Rudy has an iPhone cause we were at the hospital for an emergency and I had to go online to bid for my NUS modules (which I didn't get ): but that's another thing) before bidding closed at 5pm.

Those of you who have no deadlines, important emails, emergency online shopping urges and generally lead very dull and insignificant lives, you can do your usual Facebook-ing and youtube-ing.

Photobucket

Lucky kids with parents to pay for your phone bills, I'm sure they'll be grateful that you finally take some initiative to save them money with a worthwhile plan. And after all, this plan allows you to easily do your project work or research on-the-go.

For you other samaritans paying your own phone bills, well I think the plan is really affordable!

Facebook, stalking blogs (like Will), shopping online, reading emails.. etc and whatever other websites you usually like to visit (I don't really want to know. SOME stuff should be kept at home)- but with all the convenience of being able to access them on-the-go.

When I go online I'd also be checking movie timings, when the next bus is coming, or if I'm bored I read fmylife.com! (I get that much entertainment from the misery of others)

Obviously the best is still when I can go online with my laptop, so with Broadband on Mobile Youth Plan I might just start carrying my laptop everywhere! This is especially since I just started school at NUS, with all the upcoming projects and assignments.
If not, I can still just access the Internet on my phone!

All in all to summarise the two things you need to know after my pictures and litany:
1. You can go online anytime...
2. be it with your phone or laptop...
3. without having to worry about the cost $_$

So log on to www.singtel.com/youth or head down to your nearest Singtel shop now for more details!

Oh and currently you have a chance to win Formula One tickets worth $596 each when you sign-up. There are 4 pairs to be won and you can double your chances to win when you register at www.singtel.com/youth upon sign-up!

Live Life Online. Yet another way you can Express Yourself Freely!

Sophie: "Today I opened my fridge and there was a lobster in it."
Chloe: "HA?! Live one?!"

Yah sure it was waving its pincers at me. My mom almost wet herself laughing when I told her.

Another Saturday burnt! By the way I must have wasted a ton of money in total so far on movies, I watch practically everything that comes out.

G.I Joe was not bad, Rudy thought it was lame but I thought the action was pretty cool. Like it's one of the few action movies that I find watchable, most are just boring.

UP is a must watch! The beginning was really sweet and sad, I cried! The talking dog is SO cute- "Oh PLEASE be my prisoner!" or "I have just met you, but I love you! SQUIRREL!".

District 9 (the one about the alien settlement in Johannesburg) was gruesome but overall pretty sad too. Was so depressing to watch how they treat minorities and specimens that hold potential for warfare. Good ending though I thought. Worth watching!
