Qiuting's Dress-Up Session

Tuesday, November 30, 2010
Long overdue photos from the time when Qiuting (www.bongqiuqiu.blogspot.com) organised a get-together! There was no real purpose to it besides... getting dressed up and taking photos haha. Qiuting brought a ton of stuff (eyeshadow palette, accessories, nail polish etc) and also got sponsored wigs and cupcakes!

Below are some photos from her blog, to which she added Japanese characters (I'm persuaded she doesn't even know what they mean) and other miscellaneous hearts and etc.

Photobucket
Qiuting, Genevieve and I! Genevieve looked really good with the blonde wig haha.

My own fairy wand and painted nails. Seriously glitter nail polish is SUCH a pain to get off! There are some really nice O.P.I and China Glaze ones but when I think of removing it... ick.

When I finally decided I looked better without the specs haha.

When I Tweeted a picture of me in the blonde WIG, tons of people thought I had really dyed my hair blonde! So... how do I look blonde?

Oh and cat ears mine as well.

Photobucket
Teehee my Minnie Mouse umbrella! Ridiculous buy from Hong Kong Disneyland last year; so useless but so cute! In retrospect I don't even remember whether it fit into my luggage or if I had to hand-carry it.

Photobucket

Okay I promise to try to blog more now that exams are over haha. My hamster is sleeping in a random nook in my bag; so cute! I thought she was sleeping somewhere on my bed just now but then I noticed the bite marks on the cover -_-

So many errands to run and things to finally get round to doing now that it's the holidays! One month feels so short though. And the torrential daily rain is just ugh, annoying. Time to catch up on all the movies out in cinemas now! I haven't even watched Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows yet!

Need to get up early(ish) tomorrow, goodnight!

It's The Thought That Counts

Sunday, November 28, 2010
I freaking feel like Betty sometimes/most of the time. Ironic because I always liked Veronica more and thought Betty was annoying and desperate.

Photobucket

You know what they always say about "It's the thought that counts" and etc? It's bullshit. It's the thought that counts, only when the item is already of sufficient value or as long as the person actually gets you something.

If two people got you the same LV wallet, then you say It's the thought that counts, because one maybe had to look longer to get it or save up more or something.

If it's between an LV wallet, and a photo album - "It's the thought that counts" - ORLY? (for you noobs, that means Oh Really)

Most of the time when people say It's the thought that counts, it's usually because one person totally didn't give them a present and they were hoping for one, so they say that because to them it means that the person didn't think about them/couldn't be bothered.

You ask any random person on the street to choose between a handmade card and a branded wallet; they're going to go for the wallet. Nowadays all people care about are materialistic things. Because you're willing to spend $xxx on me, that must mean I mean more to you. No one gives a shit if the card took 3 days to make. What's 3 days compared to $xxx? I can afford 3 days, but I can't afford $xxx on my own. So I rather get the $xxx.

I feel like Betty because everything I get/can get, is going to be through my own efforts. But it's never going to feel like it's enough to measure up. So what if Veronica's presents are also self-serving; because she gets to show off? When you open them you still go Oh Wow! Thanks!

P.S. I hate how after I get over my unhappy/thinking moment I look back and feel so embarrassed about whatever I felt/thought/reacted. I used to tear entries out from my diary because they made me feel so stupid and I hated re-reading them. But I don't know... is it that bad to have outbursts, even if they're stupid? Should I still remain embarrassed by them? Anyway too many of my "personal" thoughts go unpublished and this is still a "personal" blog so...
P.P.S. On a happier note, last paper tomorrow at 9am!

usual mid-week ramblings

Wednesday, November 24, 2010
Mom: "I like your specs. Very nice."
She continues rambling on about how nice my specs are for the next 5 minutes. (She should get a job in advertising).
I just stare at her because she went with me to pick out the specs. Machiam like she never see them before.
Mom: "Don't worry, I'm not lesbian".

Been busy studying so I only have a few random photos because most of the time I, 1) did not wash my hair, 2) didn't wash my hair (second day), 3) didn't go anywhere, 4) all of the above.

Photobucket
Giant grey batwing top from some Korean spree. And shorts were cut from jeans (but I sewed the bottom!) and have frayed ends from wear and tear.

Pink hole-y top from Mango.

When I'm bored I like to poke my naval stud through the holes (it fits).

Did a job the other day at St Regis Hotel, where I was hired to usher VIPs for Today's (newspaper) 10th anniversary. I remember the message I got which said : "You will be ushering VIPs. One of them is Goh Chok Tong" and I just went like HAHAHAHA.

So anyway it was a really interesting experience because the security checks were crazy! There was a pre-bomb sweep with sniffer dogs and all, as well as metal detectors?! And everyone had to show their IC/passport. For this reason I thought it was better that I didn't tweet about it. I mean I highly doubt like the Al Qaeda follows my Twitter but lots of people are pretty cautious about this kind of stuff...

So anyway SM Goh gave a speech about the Today newspaper, which you can read about here. There's a full transcript somewhere but his speech was rather long. My actual task just involved about 5 minutes of actual work (the distance from the VIP table to the stage isn't that large) and freezing my ass off the rest of the time and trying to talk to the other girl (from Poland), whose English was not very good.

Photobucket
This is Monika! She's one year younger than me and she has a really nice body I swear. Anyway she was also awesome because she managed to get us served with every single dish the guests were eating!

Like the waiters were just walking past with platters of food and she stopped one and asked for a plate each. And after that the waiters would just come bring us whatever the guests were eating, namely fois gras, fish, mushroom soup etc...
But anyway surprisingly the food wasn't very good.

I didn't bring my camera up while we were sitting around waiting backstage so I didn't get more photos. SM Goh is super tall though. He's way taller than me even when I'm in heels, but he looks quite jaded. Most of Singapore's ministers look like that to me. They never look like they're thinking of anything amusing (you can totally be responsible for serious stuff and still be thinking of amusing things).

Photobucket
Actually I think Monika is in flats here while I'm with heels and she's still around my height.

Photobucket
I remember this dress being from Agneselle, I got it free from being in the NUS pageant haha.

At the NUS Library at 2am:

Top from The Closet Ville!

Photobucket
Sometimes if you're lucky you can get one of the discussion rooms all to yourself! However the other students in other rooms all seems to ignore the big signs on the walls saying: THESE ROOMS ARE NOT SOUNDPROOF -_-

Photobucket
Do you know how awkward it is to be taking photos of yourself (also know as camwhoring, but I prefer my description) in a library full of students?
But anyway majority are too engrossed in re-reading for the 10th time their notes in case they missed out on something. And if they happen to look up for a breather, they'll probably just laugh and think: No wonder we always pwnz these locals at exams!

And omg you can see my hair roots already haha.

Photobucket
Belt from Brick Lane in London (I actually think 10 Pounds for a belt is kind of overpriced; but the medallion thingy was interesting). Pink lace bangle from random shop in Paris and black bangle is one of a set from F21 I think.

Photobucket
Random camwhoring with my Photobooth, because with such low resolution it's able to make me look reasonably alright with minimal makeup at 2am! The shitty 2 megapixel camera also makes my hair look nicer haha.

Anyway as aforementioned, my black top is kindly sponsored by The Closet Ville! To thank their fans for the support they've been giving them, The Closet Ville will be launching a contest titled: "What I Want In My Closet". 7 lucky winners will win an item of their choice from the website (: For more details, visit TheClosetVille.com/WIWIMC!

I've an exam tomorrow! It will be my 3rd paper, with my 4th (and last) one on the 29th of November! Most students take 5 modules and hence have 5 exams, but one of my 5 modules is Chinese and most languages don't have a final exam - instead they have lots of quizzes (three) and tests (two), as well as an oral exam, project+presentation as well as assignments. So... I only have 4 papers.
Alaric is taking 2 language modules - Chinese and French - so he only has 3 exams!

Mwuah!
