Macintosh ftw!

"Everyone, at some point in their lives, wakes up in the middle of the night with the feeling that they are all alone in the world, and that nobody loves them now and that nobody will ever love them, and that they will never have a decent night’s sleep again and will spend their lives wandering blearily around a loveless landscape, hoping desperately that their circumstances will improve, but suspecting, in their heart of hearts, that they will remain unloved forever. The best thing to do in these circumstances is to wake somebody else up, so that they can feel this way, too."— Lemony Snicket

Hahahaha. Misery loves company.

But anyway I just submitted my final Philosophy essay (with 13 hours to spare before the deadline, go me!) so that means I've cleared my 3 assignments due for the week.

At some juncture I'd like to stay in Hall. At another point, I'd maybe want to go on a student exchange, or overseas internship/immersion/anything. And after I'm done with that and university, maybe I'll be an air stewardess for a while and fly around the world. Whatever it is; just to shake things up a bit. I can't bear to think of the bleary monotony tied the continuum of growing up. How do you go about going from one stage to another in life, and think that it doesn't even need a break? In short, doesn't anyone find the notion of starting work/a family after 16 years of studying somewhat stifling? Knowing that you're just moving from one area of commitment to another?

Since everyone likes to know about the costume shop...

Tuesday, October 27, 2009
I went to the No.1 Costume Costume shop for my Geography project on globalisation, because my group decided to research Halloween in Singapore (and its link to globalisation; e.g. we know about it mainly through the media etc..). So here were some photos we took as proof of fieldwork hohoho:

Sorry I looked very unglam so you get a stupid star from Photobucket's stock. Do you know how many retarded stickers they have?! Nonsense like fake moustaches, "Sexy", lipstick marks.. etc. I mean didn't everyone outgrow that kind of crap when they were like, 6 years old or something?

LOOK! SO MANY COSTUMES CRAMMED INTO ONE RACK. And there are TONS of these racks!!! They're all organised according to category, so I guess this was the jungle/animal print one. (I know I'm supposed to make some lame Ris Low joke here but no thanks. By the way watch her RazorTv video- she is a moron. More on her later.)

Hahahaha animal heads.

This doesn't show anything at all but it was for my project.

Anyway the shop deals with random stuff the rest of the year like productions and events. Like remember how in primary/secondary school you'd have to sit through 30mins of a cow/bear/whatever prancing about on stage trying to teach you about dental hygiene, charity, obedience or some other thing? Yeah.

The shop is 7 years old (I know all this because we interviewed the Assistant Manager) so my only grouse is that... I wonder how much of the costumes they've washed/properly maintained in those 7 years... Because some of it looks kind of gross and about to fall apart.

It costs anywhere from $50-$200 for a 3 day rental of a costume, depending on how elaborate it is. Haha we saw one costume that was a giant hat. As in basically it was a huge top hat, with holes for the arms. Literally, a giant hat. Hahahaha.

Hohoho!

Finally finished my 8-page essay for Southeast Asian Studies! Had to submit it to Turnitin (this thingamajig that checks the Internet for how much you've copied off it), was so worried I might wind up with like 30% copied or worse. I mean out of a 2000+ words, the odds do seem pretty high... BUT anyway mine only had 16% woohoo. Time to print it out!

Butter Factory on Friday
Ronald's birthdayyyyyy. Usually Friday is way emptier than Saturday, both at Butter and Zouk, but I don't know why it was pretty full this time.

6 bottles of Chivas or something, but being the designated driver (responsibility=me) I didn't have any. Most of the boys were just done with BMT, so it was hilarious when one got drunk and started shouting things like "permission to recover sir!" and trying to "march" in his drunken stupor hahaha.

So many bald heads hohoho.

Ronald.

Brandon, Ron and Jon.

Hohoho (new favourite word).

Hohoho!!

Awww what a cute picture.

Anyway I actually forgot to bring my camera so these are all ripped off Facebook. Should I buy a new camera? Since mine's so spoilt. Might just go for some $200+ camera instead of blowing another $500+ like for mine -_- since obviously it didn't do me much good...

2 more assignments due this week! Go me!
Sitting here contemplating Halloween. Rather disinclined to spend $80 renting a costume and I actually visited the largest costume shop in Singapore, which was really HUGE, but the stuff didn't look very clean... Oh well at most I'll just brandish one of my random miscellaneous items like the Minnie Mouse ears or the cat mask.

P.S. Rudy installed the new Windows 7 and lost everything because it turns out a lot of his drivers aren't compatible (although he just bought his laptop this year). Macintosh ftw!

Feeling cynical

Thursday, October 22, 2009

I have a whole barrage of depressive posts and half-thoughts but I shall not bother anyone with them. Yet. But by the way I got B+ for my Political Science draft.

SMS to Diana (whom I haven't seen in ages, but is living it up with her best friend at SMU law):
It's like every day I kill time waiting for something, anything. And I hate that, because time is running out. We're growing up and I'm not looking forward to the future at all.

"And I guess I'm kind of lonely."

school days

I think Marley's a female. I mean she's supposed to be anyway.

Let's see... The other day my friends and I had to go to the teacher's table at the front to copy down something. While my friend was copying I started fiddling with the switches on the teacher's table.
I amused myself dimming/brightening the light at the front for a while. When I got bored with that I pressed the switch beside it. Nothing. So I moved on the next switch, and UH-OH. Half the class was thrown into darkness (by the way it was 2 or 3 classes combined so that's at least 60 people).
I exclaimed "OMG!!!" and hastily flipped the light back on and then quietly laughed to myself. HAHAHAHAHA.

P.S. I went to the NUS medical centre today for the first time (besides the pre-admission check-up). I didn't have to pay a cent! Awesomezxz. Consultation is free, but I don't know why even my medicine was free. Yay!
P.P.S. What's with all the word plays using "NUS"? Like AlumNUS (alumnus) and WithiNUS (within us). Okay quite innovative but yeah..
Bye!

Yo mama so old that when she was born, Burger King was still a prince. Hiehieharharhahaha

Haha I sent that out to 17 people this morning.

Druce (who was in the same church service as me; just down my pew in fact) replied me the day's scripture...

Druce: 1 Timothy 2:11-12, A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent
Sophie: HAHAHA good one. Why didn't the skeleton cross the road?
Sophie: OI MUST ASK WHY
Druce: Hahaha but I know the answer, he had no guts
Sophie: Why do mermaids wear seashells?
Druce: WHY????
Sophie: Cause they can't wear B-cups! (C-shells) hahahahahaaahaaaa
Druce: Hahaha that is soooooooo retarded. I hope you didn't come up with it yourself.
Sophie: I could only dream of such talent! :O
Druce: Haha well Joshua Mok says you are the lamest person he knows, so if it helps I think you are halfway there.

Oh yeah, Druce is his real name. I know it's the weirdest name you've ever heard, but wait till you hear the sister's HAHAHAHAHAHA.... (Hint: Sam and Samantha. Druce and Dru..?)

Joshua Mok: Yo mama so poor that she eats at Long John Bronze

Just spreading a little cheer!

Having nothing to do at home yesterday, we headed to Starbucks. Having nothing to do at Starbucks, we headed to Butter Factory.
At Butter Factory Rudy spent a good 20 seconds trying to push the "door" in the VIP area to go from FASH (house/electro) to BUMP (rnb/hiphop) while we watched on laughing, because of course the "door" was in reality the wall, and just inches beside the real door...

Woohoo I just started reading a new Jodi Picoult book that I bought off sgselltrade at $11 and it's in really good condition, happy!

Anyway I got my Philosophy draft back, I got a B+. Apparently in NUS anything below a B is quite bad but I'm still quite relieved with my B+! First grade from university! I've one assignment due next week and 3 the following week ugh.

Been playing a lot of mahjong recently, which equals to seeing ___'s fat tummy -_- and tons of Pokka Ice Lemon Tea (I hate the Seasons one).
Watched (500) Days of Summer the other day, it was a good film. It ended on him meeting a new girl called Autumn, so that was kinda er... "Is there gonna be a (500) Days of Autumn?!" (I realise I just spoilt the ending for anyone hoping he got back together with Summer -who is a fbitch-, but nyah nyah harharharharhar)

"Eh play mahjong leh."
"Don't want, I'm watching America's Next Top Model."
"Don't bother, I tell you who wins; it's _____"

Hahahaha vindictive...

Sigh bored ): I feel like I haven't had fun in ages. It's like every day I do nothing but kill time.

):

I feel like such a moron. I've been doing nothing but sitting around in my pjs and drifting in and out of sleep and stoning. I feel so shitty and lethargic. I don't know what's up with me, I don't feel like doing anything and I'm bursting into tears for everything. I mean I don't know, I just feel like I'm spiraling faster and faster into... nothing.

But by the way I watched the Miley Cyrus video, and admittedly her new song is cute but seeing a 16 year old in micro-shorts with her bra showing and gyrating her hips is just gross. I mean shouldn't she stick to Hilary Duff kind of crap first?

watch for magic act!

Wednesday, October 14, 2009
School ended at 1pm for me today. Bored! So here's a video of me working my magixcx:

>

Haha amazing cheek-sucking powers. Just suck them in and clamp down with your jaw! Anyway on some days can suck in more than others aiyah whatever lah. Everyone thinks I look like a skeleton when I do that.

Why didn't the skeleton cross the road?
Because he has no guts!

Hiehiehehzxheiehzxhahahahaaaaaaa. Fulfilling life right here!

P.S. First time posting a video using Photobucket. Technology! Amazing!
P.P.S. Sorry frizzy hair.

NPNF 2009

Sophie: "Are you coming home soon?"
Mother: "No still in the office, why?"
Sophie: "Thought can borrow the car. Never mind."
Sophie: "Hi Uncle. Takashimaya please."
Mother: "Are you talking to me?"
Sophie: "You uncle meh?"

Cassandra: "I'm tired and not feeling well. I'll date you girls next week instead."
Sophie: "Next week I'll be tired and not feeling well."
Cassandra: "I don't care. Anyway make sure you criticize the contestants for me."

New Paper New Face Finals this year was pretty boring. It ended really early (8.45pm), lasting only about an hour? All the previous years including mine had ended around 10pm.

It was really obvious who the winner was gonna be. Every year the trend has so far always been that the winner is 1.7m or above, and mix-blood in some way or another- be it like the Malay-Arab kind, or the De Souza De Something Eurasian kinds, or the half-half like mine.
Not saying that mix-bloods are better or anything, but that's just what I noticed anyway. I guess it's easier to look different?

Anyway the winner (Victoria Bradbury) was really tall and skinny and pretty! She walked well, was the tallest contestant and had lots of confidence like the AtTituDe and whatever haha. So yeah I think she really deserved to win.

K some of the photos are mine, and some are obviously ripped off DSLR users on Facebook. Reached slightly after the show had started so I got lousy seats :(

Judges. I only know that's Junita Simon with the short hair.

The finals always have this group of male dancers... serious sensationalism. Because honestly no matter how good your technique or whatever is, seeing men prance around in tights doing body rolls and splits is just gross.

Victoria.

Free MAC stuff in the goodie bag! One lipgloss and one eyeshadow plus a voucher. Happiness $_$ I managed to nab another bag before I left haha.

MALE MODELS WOOT WOOT O.O

Victoria.

Kumar! The highlight of the show! I always thought he was kind of gross with the whole in-your-face thing but he was hilarious.

After the show:
Tabatha, Pooja, Emiko and I.

One of the show coordinators was telling us they might bring back old New Face girls for Takashimaya's 20th Anniversary Show (every year 5 finalists are chosen for the Takashimaya show).
And we were all like :o omg that's in 4 years (a.k.a it's Takashimaya's 16th anniversary this year). I'll be 23, it's just so weird to think of me then! Felt so insanely old.

P.S. By the way I keep getting the Old New Face kind of jokes haha seriously... Like "you're an Old Face".
P.P.S. My camera is SO SPOILT; it keeps vibrating! Like literally if you put it on the table it moves and goes bzz bzz. $$$!

skewl -_-

Omg can't wait to be done with my Geography project, I am so sick of sitting at Starbucks and looking for sockets to charge our laptops.

Next major project would be my South East Asian one. I HAVE NO TOPIC YET.
HELP.
It can be ANYTHING, as long as it is related to SEA.

I've to write either an 8-page essay, or do a non-essay project (e.g. scrapbook) accompanied by a 5-page write-up.

I'm leaning more towards the scrapbook+5 pages one, but can't think of a suitable topic ): My friends are doing things like child prostitution in SEA, obviously I can't do a scrapbook regarding something like that...

It doesn't have to be so serious, it could be stuff like how we all view countries in SEA differently e.g. Thailand=Trannies but that was mentioned in lecture already (biased personal perceptions) so yeah.

Ideas plzxzxz!!

"So ____ is your cousin right?"
"Yeah."
"Then what about her brother? Your cousin too?"

HAHA WTF. You tell me which idiot thinks you can be cousins with one sibling but not the other?!

Was at Holland the other day buying bubble tea (mango green tea with jelly). It came in an orange rimmed cup so I picked up an orange straw and contemplated:

"What do you think? Is it too much orange?"

O.m.g the look on Rudy's face was priceless. The shock, and the barely perceptible twitch on his face indicating the dilemma on whether to curse and call me moron, or laugh. Hilarious.

By the way I settled for a green straw. It really was too much orange.

Met Sherry on Wednesday at Chinatown.
I had nothing to do while waiting for her so I randomly wandered into a hair salon and asked for a wash and trim (although I'd washed my hair like just 2 hours before). The girl was a huge n00b, she chopped at my layered hair )': so now it's really short and fat at the sides. But I guess I don't really care; I mean it's just hair, it'll grow anyway. If I cared that much I wouldn't entrust my hair to a $15-hair-cut at some dodgy Chinese shop.

Anyway after that she blow-dried it into some I-just-permed-my-hair ahlian curly thingy. And I look really weird in the pictures! Like, tired. Yes let's blame it on that.

Dumplings!! Yummy.

Chao ahlian curly hair.

Glaring at me because I'm a slow eater.

$2 hair ribbonzx! Sherry's sekret stash, she came and bought TWENTY the previous time. Insane. The idiot has 100 over hairbands alone, not even counting clips and stuff.

Feather handband she bought. I got one too but slimmer.

Some stuff I bought, like the shades and the.. YES STUDDED BAG. Been looking all over for a studded bag but they were either insanely priced ($90+ for some FEP thing) or these long, rectangular, inflexible shapes that I saw on blogshops everywhere.

It's supposed to be a cafe with very famous Pearl Milk Tea. It was just alright in the end? Sadness disappointed downfall why do we have to face hardship at such a young age.
Pearl to milk tea ratio not good (getting scientific). Way too many pearls.

She wanted a photo with the cafe -_-

Haha so cute you can see my eyeroll cause Sherry wanted me to take a picture too.
