Teddy Dreams

Wednesday, May 30, 2012
Etude House is a Korean cosmetics brand that focuses on makeup being fun & affordable!
Their items all come in super cute pink packaging ^_^
Some of the faces of Etude include the bands SHINee & 2NE1

WELCOME TO THE PLAY HOUSE:

They sent me a few products to try, which included key items (products I'm genuinely interested to use) like lipsticks, blusher & BB cream! In the pictures below, I'm only wearing eyeliner!
I didn't use any concealer so you can see the area under my eye is a bit red.

First up is one of their new lipsticks:

Look at the cute lipstick design! It comes in a pearly pink with a little ribbon around the base :)

This lipstick colour is BE101 Wholesome Beige!
Actually to me the colour looks a bit more coral/peach than nude/beige, which I was happy with because quite a few of you were recommending I try coral LOL. I like this colour a lot!
I've been using this instead of my usual pink :)

Their lipsticks are also sufficiently moist so it glides on easily without being too dry!

This is with just lipstick & eyeliner! And of course, strong flash & flower wreaths haha.

Lipstick colour up close! I know the rings don't match AT ALL... but I previously posted a picture of my rings on Instagram & a few people said it looks like I like vintage rings which... I don't. I mean, not particularly haha. I think I have a diverse ring-style (lol)!

H&M LOVE crop top, F21 pyjamas shorts & Tokyo Disneyland Duffy Bear!

Final picture with a smile before I move on to the next lipstick, which is a much brighter pink!

Same cute tube with pink ribbon; this shade is PK004 Breathless Pink!

This shade of pink is much brighter compared to the previous one, so I opted for different poses:

This pink definitely stands out more & would look great on many girls!
But if you're a newer lipstick user or prefer safer shades then the Wholesome Beige (that looks like coral) would be a better choice :) This pink is really cool for events or other days when you want to dress up!

And this is the matching blusher for it:

Blusher comprises of two pretty pinks! The colour transfers easily (blusher -> brush -> cheeks) & stayed on well! This is a shade of pink very similar to what I'm already using normally.

Smile to apply! Brings out the apples of your cheeks!

Done! Pink blusher with pink lipstick!
(。♥‿♥。)
Next up is the BB cream!

Their BB cream has SPF & anti-ageing & whitening properties!
My favourite is actually... the PUMP.
No need to squeeze! It makes it much easier to use.

And here's a test done to show how good the coverage of their BB cream is!
The left side is with BB cream & you can see the comparison with the right!
The blusher is totally covered, as is the redness around my eyes (no concealer worn).
I even wanted to apply it over my lipstick to prove a point but then it looked pretty stupid lol.

BB creams are good because they're not as thick/heavy as foundation & they come with SPF protection! It's basically like tinted moisturizer, so as you can see, Etude's one gives a very good skin tone.
The shade I'm using is Natural Beige W13!

Lol the back of the BB cream tube says:
"Brightening OK!"
"Darkening ZERO!"
Can totally imagine a Korean saying that haha.

I've started using their BB cream whenever I'm lazy to put on makeup (which is everyday now that I'm doing my internship) but don't want to look like death. I also use the coral-ish lipstick! I would use the blusher too but I currently still have my own that's not even halfway through.

Speaking of work, for those of you who may not know I'm currently interning at a digital marketing firm (e.g. Facebook campaigns). I've been working for about 2.5 weeks so far! My office isn't particular about dressing so I haven't drastically changed my wardrobe. Ok drastic in the sense that to NUS I usually wear denim shorts, but I haven't needed to go out & empty my wallet. I did buy a few pencil skirts but since no one else dresses that formally I've chucked them aside (material is so thick ugh! horrid for the weather).

On most days I wear spectacles & no makeup :X
But if we have a client meeting that day then I dress better lah haha.

Cute stickers I saw at Popular!
Got them because they were of good quality & decently priced ($2.50 each).

Hehe zoo animals & dinosaurs!

Stuck a crocodile, owl, rabbit & camel on my iPhone case!

Work again tomorrow!
Hope everyone has a good week ahead ;)

Tokyo (3) - Akihabara

Thursday, May 24, 2012

So after the previous days at Harajuku & Shibuya... we went to do Alaric's geeky stuff >:(

First up was a visit to the Pokemon Centre! Honestly it wasn't worth a visit. If you're a real fan I think you'd be very disappointed, unless you're the kind that's happy with anything from your idols. It's basically just one shop selling Pokemon stuff, most of which featured the new Pokemons that us 1980-1990 kids have never seen before. Yeah. And it's just a shop, not an exhibition or museum or anything.

Oh and it's quite out of the way! Not near anything interesting
It was a shop in a big office building O.O
The Pokemon Centre isn't at Akihabara itself; it's located at Daimon.

What Pokemon are these? >:(

Token things that are printed on the spot. I don't think I've ever seen these in Singapore but in France they're really common. You'd be surprised how many cathedrals have these token machines as souvenirs haha.

Pikachu pin!

In the Akihabara area was also a... CAT CAFE! *hyperventilates*
In Japanese "cat" is "neko". We got a bit lost so we had to ask "neko cafe?" if not no one understood us. Even if they don't know what "cafe" means, at least they know it's something cat-related lah haha.

We paid for... an hour I think + cat snacks. Approx maybe S$10 each but I've forgotten.
The cats there are so pretty! And... very spoilt lol.

Aww I love it when cats/dogs use their paws to "get" stuff because it is so cute!
Omg smiling stupidly at my computer screen because of these pictures.

They're all stepping on a cat-booklet.
They even have calendars made out of the resident cats.

Such a nice grey!

Maximum shiokness. At least half of the cats there are just snoozing happily away haha.

Flat face!

This is like the "cafe" counter where you can order drinks & food. I got a hot chocolate.

Cat decides to take a stroll on one of the staff's back haha. Think it jumped from the countertop when she happened to be beside it. Thing is, she stayed like this till the cat decided to get off wtf hahahaha #dedication.

Ghngrzxfrkxz #cuteness

#likeacat

"Ok for cat snacks I'll wake up"

SHO CUTE!
Looks like a meercat!

Aww purdyyy.

Unamused meer-cat is unamused hahaha.

Meer-cat is still glaring.

This is what the cat cafe looks like! (door on the right)
It basically just looks like a living room to me. I think it's a converted residence.
If I lived in Japan I'd go work part-time at a cat cafe for sure!

Hahaha fat cat lounged on its back with its legs sticking out.

Hahahaha #Part 1.

Hahahaha #Part 2.
Fat tiger cat looks at fat lounging cat & then moves on.

Not sure what this is, but apparently it may have been a ninja restaurant!
If I'm not wrong you eat in the dark/semi-darkness & the staff are supposed to be able to serve you in maximum stealth. Not sure of the exact mechanism.

Anyway Akihabara has loads of geek-related stuff!
It's where to go if you're interest in manga, toys, comics, memorabilia etc...
Or if you're one of those that like the barely-clothed female figurines.

Wah does anyone remember Happy Tree Friends? That was back when I was in Secondary 1. Gross stuff...

Insane number of game machines!

Went into a random sushi bar at the mall at the Akihabara station.

You'll see the sushi chef (?) making it in front of you & simply placing it on the leaf "plate"!

Headed to a ramen place nearby after sushi.
It's amusing how many restaurant use a vending-machine system to take orders!
You select what you want at the machine, pay at the machine, sit down & get your food served in a bit!

Gyoza

Ginormous mug O.O

No clue what this says or is (maybe just says "welcome"... or "stay out"); but looked nice.

Went to a big building of claw machines opposite Akihabara station!
Alaric likes playing them sometimes & he particularly wanted this Japanese toy (if you can call it that) called a Gloomy Bear. Gloomy Bear is a pink bear that was adopted by a small boy as a bear cub.
Gloomy grew up & ate the small boy that rescued him. Morbid...

You can see the metro station in the background!
Akihabara is along the JR Line.
(Train lines in Tokyo are owned by different companies)

That's Alaric taking pictures with the Japanese guy working there!
He was super helpful & helped Alaric win a lot of the plush toys lol. Spoke a bit of English!

Oh yeah Akihabara also has a lot of tech/gadget shops!
Didn't go into any though, so I don't know whether they're worth going to.
Akihabara is really more for the slot & claw machines, & manga/comic/pop culture stuff.
So I assume none of you will be interested.
Haha kidding! Ok lah the shops are interesting, but there's no shopping (clothes) if you're looking for that.

Tata! Next Tokyo post would be for Disney! :D
