Valentine's Day for Alaric and I actually coincides with our anniversary as well (: We didn't plan anything major though. We got round to making reservations for dinner pretty late so the place I wanted to try - White Rabbit (at Dempsey) was fully booked.
Looked at a few other restaurants online and their menus, but I found all to have typical menus (I mean I honestly don't care how good your Spagehtti Carbonara may be because it's still Carbonara and I can get that anywhere so it's dumb to pay $30++ for yours) or those that had slightly interesting ones had pretty exorbitant prices. I'm not a foodie and all I wanted was pasta that was a little different.
So anyway we decided to have our Valentine's dinner on Wednesday instead. On VDay itself we didn't do much because we had school, although NUS certainly looked pretty festive with all the heart cutouts! Caught King's Speech that night which was a pretty good movie.
The White Rabbit is a restaurant in an old chapel! I honestly find it quite strange that one can be allowed to buy over a religious place and turn it into something else. I mean... isn't it a little inappropriate still?
Like if we took a mosque or a Hindu temple and turned them into restaurants I think the followers would be pretty pissed. Okay I know Buddhist temples have vegetarian restaurants in them but that's kind of run by the temple itself right?
Some sides we ordered - Mac & Cheese and fries! (Alaric picked the fries - totally can get that anywhere)
My scallop linguine! I love scallops. This was pretty good!
Alaric's risotto with.. pan-fried foie gras and crab meat I think?
One of the old cable cars! I remember they were being sold as mementoes, with the proceeds going to charity. White Rabbit must have bought one! Haha the cars do kind of look rickety and scary to be in if you're dangling xxx metres above the ground.
I bought this dress for... $8 from a thrift store in Waterloo Street (please stop asking for addresses because a whole list of locations + timings is available online). I always thought it was just a random old dress someone donated, but I happened to look at Love, Bonito's sale section the other day and realised it's from there!
Haha in fact it's still being sold for $20+. Anyway it's sold out already.
Guess I got a pretty good deal!
That sums up my Valentine's Day! I know people will ask about gifts, so basically on VDay I said I wanted to go to the NUS bookstore to see the Swatch watches they were selling because I had my eye on one (I wasn't trying to hint or anything, I really wanted to buy it myself!). Alaric decided he would get it for me, and even got to enjoy NUS student discount for buying it at the bookstore!
I know it looks kiddy but I think it's cute + casual for school! Looking at it more closely I realise how anti-Valentine's Day a gift it is, because the hearts are all broken or have a skull face in them :S
As for his present... I already told him I would buy this computer gaming mouse by Razer (do not underestimate how expensive these bloody things are - a mousepad can cost 30USD).
I had actually wanted to buy it for Christmas but it was so difficult because it's supposed to be a "surprise" but he always talks about needing to feel the mouse first and test the grip and blah blah blah. How to keep it a surprise then?!
Anyway the mouse in question is actually pretty cool. It's the Razer Tron Gaming Mouse so when you move it over the special Tron mousepad, it actually leaves behind lightrails exactly like in the movie!
(I have spent many hours being forced to watch video demonstrations of this).
Okay here's just a photo so everyone can see how it looks like because I haven't actually ordered it yet.
Hope everyone had a good Valentine's Day; whether it was alone, with your boyfriend/girlfriend, family, pets, friends or your right hand.
Mwuah! ♥

Cute watch. The watch reminds of Commes des garcon.
