MARIGOLD HL Perfect Balance Contest

Saturday, October 13, 2012
Recognise these milk cartons?

There's the normal, home-sized large one & then the mini fun one!

Every time I think of MARIGOLD HL milk I'll remember their commercials & that jingle that goes:
"MARIGOLD HL milk, the perfect balance of highs & lows!"

And what they meant by the "perfect balance" is that MARIGOLD HL milk has HIGH amounts of the good stuff & LOW amounts of the not-so-good stuff to strike a perfect balance!

And now MARIGOLD HL is organising a photo contest where YOU can win...

$1000 cash!
There will be FIVE winners & one of them could be you!

Join the MARIGOLD HL Perfect Balance Contest!

Take a photo based on the theme PERFECT BALANCE & upload it with a short caption to:

1) The contest application on their Facebook Page
or
2) Instagram (remember to hashtag #HLperfectbalance)

Judging of the contest will be based on creativity, determined by the judges' votes (60%), & public voting (40%)! So remember to get your friends to vote for you!

There will be 5 photo winners receiving $1000 cash each & 5 lucky voters receiving $100 cash each!

The contest ends 08 November 2012 so hurry, get creative!

I had a go at the photo contest too!
Since I get more points for featuring the MARIGOLD HL milk cartons, I decided to do it all the way LOL *strategist*

But I only used two of the small cartons...
Hope I get to see some brave ones using the big ones! And in bigger numbers!

Omg surprisingly difficult!
Maybe my forearm is too small...

Tried on my right side instead!

For like... 5 seconds hahaha.
The milk carton dropped after that!

And yes, the cartons are MEGA STURDY lol. I dropped them quite a few times but it stayed intact!

Few more attempts:

Aha! Big carton!
But one only... haha

So I got more ambitious!

Wahahaha not bad already right?

Then I remembered how I actually have this secret skill...

I can balance a Macbook Pro on my head!
Like yes, surprisingly steady too. I can walk around & turn & all haha.

I must have a flat head...

Impressed?

Then I decided to head outside to try more acrobatics!
(And different body parts instead)

Superman!
Would be cool if I could line up a whole row of MARIGOLD HL milk cartons!

This pose can fit quite a lot of cartons too I think haha.

ARE YOU IMPRESSED?

Hahaha was so out of form...
Doing all that balancing tired me out!

So I re-energized with a small carton of MARIGOLD HL milk!
^_^

Try your hand at their Perfect Balance photo contest!

You don't even need to be in the photo! Maybe your dog has a flat head like me? Hahahaha.
Or maybe you can make a big MARIGOLD HL milk carton tower, Jenga-style?

Remember, there will be 5 winners of $1000 each!
And 5 voters can win $100 each too :)

Submit via:
or
Instagram, with hashtag #HLperfectbalance

Contest ends 08 November 2012!
Go go go!

NuffnangX

Friday, October 12, 2012
So you may have seen quite a few bloggers talking about NuffnangX, which is a new application developped especially for reading blogs! :D It's basically like Instagram for blogs :D

It's currently available for both iOS & Android users so if you're a BB user then use the website haha.

This is my profile!
I have 1604 people following me on NuffnangX so far!

Not too bad, but hey I have 11,000+ followers on Instagram & clearly these people use an iPhone/Android so... Y U NO DOWNLOAD & FOLLOW ME?!

Outfit for the launch event of NuffnangX!
We got a preview of it 2 weeks in advance of the official launch on the App store.

With Wendy, Ming (co-founder of Nuffnang), Qiuting & Yutaki brandishing our iPhones as we downloaded the app! All except Yutaki whose phone is showing the Unlock screen haha #uncool

Basically how it works is that it has a "Feed", just like on Facebook/Instagram/Twitter!
And here you will see all the blog updates by bloggers whom you follow!

Obviously I followed myself (muahaha) so here is how my post appears to me:

NuffnangX has actually developed a unique algorithm that scans the entire blogpost & then picks out ONE SENTENCE to "summarise" it & give the viewer a quick idea of what it's about!

So this allows you to decide whether you want to load the blogpost or not :)

Ming doesn't wanna tell us what the secret algorithm but we were saying that it might pick out sentences with a lot of "!!!!" or sex-related words hahahahahaha.

It was very funny to scroll through the feed & see what the one-sentence for our blogposts were!

The picture that appears on the feed will be the FIRST photo of your blogpost, so now I'm trying to be a bit more selective when I blog so that a nice photo is at the top & appears on NuffnangX!

That way my followers will be more enticed to click my blogpost if they see a nice photo ^_^

And below the post you can see the 6  & 7 comments for that post!
By -ing it, it allows you to view the blogpost later as it's saved under your Favourites :)
Just like -ing a photo on Instagram!

The right-most icon is for SHARING the blogpost to Twitter/Facebook/email/etc...

Here's an example of the comments if you open it!

So what's the difference between NuffnangX & say... Google Reader (which I used)?
Aside from specially formatting blogposts to be readable on mobile, the unique thing is...

CONVERSATIONS!

With the NuffnangX app, a comment left by you can directly be replied to by me!
Just like in Whatsapp or something!

See the blue speech bubble? That indicates a conversation!

So here's a random conversation between Qiuting & I on my blogpost:

LOL -_-

This feature is damn convenient because I sometimes forget to reply questions made directly to my blogpost & with NuffnangX you can get a reply a lot quicker because I'll do it via my phone!

Furthermore I think it's much easier to track the replies when it's done this way :)

Here are some of the bloggers I'm following!
I can open up each of their profiles to see the number of followers they have & to see all their posts!

Another interesting development is the "Recommended" option!
This features different blogs from all over the world!

It allows you to browse through blogs & for you to discover new bloggers!
You can filter the blog types according to genres such as Food, Automobiles, Beauty, Fashion... etc

And within each category, you can set the filter to COUNTRY as well!

So here I am under Individual Lifestyle & Singapore

Hahahaha quite impressed by how they made a banner for me!
I had zero involvement in this description & picture above; had no idea they were doing one!

Hehe so I think that's pretty much it for the main features of the app, I'll leave you to explore it further!
To find my blog, click the ADD BLOG at the top of the "Feed" page & type in my blog address!

Search "sophiewillocq.blogspot.com" instead of my name because you might get other results :)
Follow me ok! ^_^

Alaric's debut!

Wednesday, October 10, 2012
Haha scroll down for Alaric's debut as my apparel review model!
But first I'm making you guys scroll past my face
^_^

Fringe Satchel in Suede Camel Brown from Bricks & Bolsas!

A lot of you always ask about where you can buy bags, so here's a blogshop specialising in one!
Their designs range from totes to clutches & they currently also have an ongoing preorder!

♥ ♥ ♥

Caitlyn Lace Dress in Beige from Hueberry! This dress also comes in Black, while their shop stocks many other designs suitable for work & casual occasions :)

"Like" them on Facebook too!

♥ ♥ ♥

I love the cut & detail of this Kate Laser Cut Peplum Top from Thy Paper Crane!
I've been wanting a peplum top/dress/skirt for a while & the fit on this top turned out great!

♥ ♥ ♥

And last but not least... a blogshop for guys!

Alaric picked this top out from Suave Facade & I think it looks great!
I know there's very limited online shopping choices for guys, so yay finally one for them!
Their prices are super reasonable & the fit is good too.
This shirt is already sold out in this shade, but it also comes in green!

♥ ♥ ♥

P.S. I'm the one that told him not to smile because I thought it looked better for the frontal shot haha.

Rosebullet x Harry Potter

Monday, October 08, 2012
Qiuting & I followed Wendy to the Rosebullet store at Marina Bay Sands the other day! Rosebullet is one of the increasingly numerous Japanese clothes brands that have been coming to Singapore! :)

Dressed up a bit more floral-ish for the occasion!

Wow at my bad hair ends...

Trying on one of the floppy hats in-store while Wendy behind was going around selecting an outfit to showcase! Her mega fluffy purple pullover & skirt are both from Rosebullet!

Qiuting taking a OOTD photo in the mirror & cute polka-dotted dress on the mannequin!

The fluffy pullover comes as a set with a matching ribbon!
Here's Wendy in the purple one, beside the pastel pink & blue versions!

Mega floral & girly that day...
Haha I wouldn't say I'm NOT girly, but I think this outfit is a bit TOO girly for me...

One more in front of the Rosebullet wall before we headed for the...

Harry Potter exhibition!

Both Wendy & I are big Harry Potter fans so it made sense to drop by the exhibition since it's at Marina Bay Sands as well! Poor Qiuting is not a fan (has not even watched all the movies) so FHL haha.

By the time I blog this the exhibition will be over so information in here is redundant lol FYLs.
Tickets for foreigners were $24 & $20 for Singaporeans!
There's also a combination package if you catch both the Harry Potter & Andy Warhol exhibit.

Wendy: "You know Andy Warhol? The Campbell soup one?"
Me: "You got see those like very comic-book style one?"
Qiuting: ????

Haha none of us were dying to catch it so we stuck to Harry Potter!
The staff also said it would take approximately an hour to finish the exhibition which was just nice!

Anyway the exhibition is mostly about the Harry Potter MOVIES, not the book.

It consisted of props from the movies, which were actually remarkably detailed!
There's nothing about the book itself (e.g. no J.K. Rowling trivia)

~ Going through a Harry Potter "cloud" projection ~
*da dum da dum da dum*
*deng deng deng*

That was suspenseful music to help your imagination because no pictures were allowed hahaha.

I quite enjoyed the exhibition!
For $20 I think it was totally an ok price to pay.

It was nice to relive all those memories because I haven't read my Harry Potter books in a while although I still remember even the most mundane details quite clearly! As per usual, I came out of the exhibit badly wishing I was a wizard, as I did when reading the books.

Souvenirs purchased from the exhibition!

Chocolate frogs ($6) & Gryffindor t-shirt ($50)!

Each chocolate frog comes with one card (like in the book) but I have two because Qiuting gave me hers; she just wanted to try the chocolate! Perks of a non-fan-friend haha.

Everything was exorbitantly priced T_T
One mega plain notebook cost $18 while a single magnet was like... $12?

Wand sets of 6 wands, albeit very nicely carved, were a few hundred dollars!
I want a wand too... T_T

I got McGonagall & Lockhart!

Lockhart is such a meh card... but there were other completely obscure (both Wendy & I had never heard of them) personalities as the random collectible card so it could be worse!

I hate the hologram card thing though, made it look kinda kiddy/cheap >:(
I know it's meant to emulate how in the book the people on the card can MOVE but...
I would have preferred a normal collectible card!

Gryffindor t-shirt!
Haha I'm planning to wear it to school!

Picture from my Instagram (@sophiewillocq)!
Old witch hat from Halloween 1998 which was spent with my mom in England :)

And I actually wore this witch hat a few years ago to catch the movie premiere for one of the Harry Potter films! Both Addie & I did, but of course we took it off for the movie itself or the people behind us would probably not have agreed that our witch hats are highly ingenious.

I TOOK A BUS TO TOWN THAT DAY.
I WORE MY WITCH HAT ON THE BUS.

OOTD

Wednesday, October 03, 2012
Random OOTD photos taken with my iPhone because people ask me quite often on Formspring what I wear to school, to clubs etc... No "to work" yet for me so sorry to the office workers lol.

And you can see my weirdly-shaped room!

Oh and I have not perfected the art of mirror-iPhone-snapping so some may be a bit blurry :X
And I can't make it look good yet, like how Cheesie does O.O
And I forget to take pictures on most days :X

I've listed where my clothes are from below each picture!
If I put "Online", that means it's a blogshop & I don't remember which.
I will ignore you if you still ask me >:(
And frankly even if I know which shop/blogshop it's from, it doesn't mean it will still be there!

Accessories a bit lazy to name...

Place where outfit is worn to is above the photo!

Most of my tags say Online or Bangkok... What an unhelpful post hahahaha.

I notice how I tend to use the same few items at one particular time... Then I get bored of it & it stays in my closet for a while till the next time I decide to spam it at one shot again haha.

And yes 4 out of 9 photos here are for Zouk O.O
That's just a coincidence! My next set has no Zouk at all.

That's especially because the last two weeks I stayed at home with my life revolving around assignments & blog drafts >:( I literally lived in my pyjamas for 5 days straight (but I showered!)
