LoveBox Pose & Post

Saturday, February 11, 2012
It's that time of the year again!

Photobucket

The coming Valentine's Day will be the second one that I am spending with Alaric! Last year we celebrated with a simple dinner & movie as well as gifts to each other. Some of you may do something pretty low-key, some of you may plan something extra special for your other, while some of you may not feel the need to do anything for it at all! After all, every day can be special.

This year, Durex is launching a very simple contest for couples out there who have captured a special moment with their partner in a photo, with the grand prize being a 4D3N special couple's trip to Krabi worth $5000!

Photobucket

Prizes:
Grand Prize: 4D3N Couple Trip to Krabi worth SGD$ 5,000 x 1
Dining Voucher at Sky Dining worth SGD$ 350 x 5
Durex Hamper & merchandise worth SGD$ 50 x 20

Sky Dining by the way, is romantic fine dining in a cable car!

It's very simple really, you don't need to capture extravagant moments spent together. The most important is that it was meaningful to you, which is what Valentine's Day is all about! But of course, it's an added bonus if photography is something that interests you anyway! ^^

Photobucket
This very unprofessional (not even with a digital camera, this was taken on my laptop's webcam) photo in one of the most uninteresting locations - my school library - is special to me because this is where we first met & spent most our days getting to know each other while studying for exams.

Who knows, you might win you & your partner a well-deserved romantic break to Krabi!

Alaric & I went to Krabi recently & I really liked it! A short getaway with your partner is also a great way to unwind together. That's one type of photo you can submit - holidays you went on with your partner where you got to try & see lots of new things together.

Photobucket
This is in Krabi; I had been wanting a beach holiday for a long time!
I got to try snorkeling for the first time in Krabi & satisfied my Thai food cravings!

Photobucket
Alaric & I at Chatuchak in Bangkok!

If you haven't had time to go overseas together yet, (which is why you should join the contest) what about in our own little island?

Photobucket
This was taken when Alaric first asked me to be his girlfriend.

Photobucket
Visit to the Night Safari!

Photobucket
Visit to the zoo, feeding kangaroos! :D

Photobucket
And a visit to the new USS! I know, I just listed 3 of Singapore's major tourist attractions. Well, you're a Singaporean; when was the last time you went to the zoo? Why not do something different together? :)

How about even special days of the year spent together?

This is Alaric & I on Halloween:

Photobucket
And us at Christmas 2010!

Just looking through all our photos together, I realised we've had lots of good times :) Now if one of those moments could win us another special moment, why not? :)

All you need to do is submit a photo of you & your partner at the Durex Singapore Facebook page! The contest runs from 16th Jan 2012 - 29th Feb 2012 & is open to any Singaporean/PR who is 18 years old & above.

The Top 50 Voted Photos will be shortlisted for deliberation by a panel of judges & there will be a total of 26 prizes to be given out!

Here's some good news - YOU CAN SUBMIT AS MANY PHOTOS AS YOU LIKE #KiasuSingaporeansUnite!

And the best news is - NO COMPULSORY PURCHASE!
You don't need any proof of purchase to take part in this contest!

Here's how to join:

(allow access to the LoveBox Pose & Post application to be able to submit a photo)

Photobucket
You should see this once you have "liked" the page & allowed the application!

Next, go to Strike A Pose & fill in your info.

Photobucket

Click NEXT!

You'll be brought to this page below, where you get to choose which Love Box you want to go along with the photo you're submitting! They have 8 designs, so if you submit 8 photos you won't even have to worry about deciding which is the "nicest" design LOL.

Photobucket

UPLOAD YOUR PHOTO!
I picked a cheery yellow-base Love Box for my picture :)

Photobucket

You can either snap a photo on the spot with your webcam, or upload an older one! If you're the super competitive type you can go & specially take some impressive new photos for the contest LOL.

Photobucket
Here you can zoom in/out & decide how the picture should be framed!
Hehe I thought the kangaroo-feeding was a cute picture!

And that's it! You've joined the contest! It's that simple!

Now you should try & get your friends/family/pets to vote for your picture so that you stand a higher chance of winning! Remember, you need to get into the Top 50!

Even if you don't win the main prize, it's ok because there are 25 other prizes! Furthermore, I think the most important was being able to reminisce about your relationship :)

And ok. Wait. You're not done.
.

.
YOU GOTTA CHECK OUT THE COMPETITION
#competitive

Go to Gallery to see the entries of other couples!

Photobucket

You can see that there are a lot of couples who have already submitted their entry, so you gotta hurry!

2. Pick your LoveBox & upload the photo(s)!
3. Get votes for it to increase chances of winning!

All the best ok! I hope the holiday will be super special for the winning couple :)
And even if you don't win... well, you've got each other no? :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

And to end off, here's one more photo of Alaric & I that I have never uploaded:
Photobucket
Hahaha that's Alaric & I doing a catwalk for a charity event, with weird face makeup!
Definitely a photo I would want to upload for the contest! :)

So here it is again: Durex Singapore LoveBox Pose & Post contest! Give it a shot!

Mermaid Waves

Thursday, February 09, 2012
I've been wanting to get a perm for a while now. Although my hair is naturally wavy, it isn't enough to look well... nice? Lol. And I'd rather not have to waste time tong-ing my hair if I want bigger curls.

So I headed down to Bugis Essensuals with Yutaki last week (but I realise I only have photos of myself hahaha), planning to do both a perm & colour touch-up! The stylist warned me that dyeing my hair right after perming it would make it lose some of the curls but that didn't bother me because I just want wavy.
Not perm-perm.

But anyway. In the end I got too bored of sitting there so I gave up after doing the perm haha. And besides it's bad for my hair to do both at the same time.

Photobucket
Unwashed hair & no makeup. Sunglasses are from KL!

Photobucket

Photobucket
Yutakis bought lots of Taimei food for us! But at first I freaked out because I only saw fried veggies (yuck); thank goodness he bought the yummy chicken too.

I showed the hair stylist a photo of the curls I wanted, but he said that effect can ONLY be achieved by tong-ing! Omg I was so sad :( After all the whole point of a perm was so I wouldn't have to tong it...

Anyway so I pretty much left it up to him & he gave me mermaid waves!

Photobucket
Cut bangs too! But it lasted like... a day.
Haha as in obviously my bangs are still there, but I changed it to my usual side-swept.

Photobucket

My hair didn't take that well to the perm though I think. It naturally became frizzier so now I've to start using hair masks & stuff more.

Oh & I was told not to wash my hair for 2 days!
*fist pump* #legitreason to avoid washing my hair.

Yutaki loved my hair... Miyake & Qiuting liked it too but I'm just #mehgirl.
Yutaki likes to act out how I usually react to things.

Yutaki: "Pretend I'm Sophie. Tell me my hair is chio"
Eric: "OMG YOUR HAIR DAMN NICE CAN!"
Yutaki: "Oh. Ok lor."
Eric: "You hungry? I damn hungry"
Yutaki: "Ok lor. Ate a bit in school."

Yutaki says my blog readers are all like me hahaha. All "Ok lor" one. True or not?

Followed him around as he shopped! I also got those new black wedges from Far East Plaza to wear in Japan! ^^ They did give me blisters at the end of the day, but it should be fine with socks.

Met some of the other bloggers for lunch the other day with our blog managers & the boss of Nuffnang, Ming! They've been having Nuffnang lunches in batches haha. Qiuting should blog about it soon I think, she, Shiberty & I share the same blog manager.

Anyway, Xiaxue, Shiberty, Qiuting & I went to shop at F21 & H&M after that; here's what I bought!

Photobucket
Oh wait sunnies not included ok. Someone passed these sunglasses to me, I'll take a proper photo next time :)

Beige cardigan from H&M at $25, thongs are 3 for $14.90, kitty mirror is $2, as is the big bow hairband & set of clips. Before anyone makes some kind of shallow remark about wearing thongs, you need them to avoid VPLs ok. Do invest. For the sake of everyone else's eyes. Thanks. LOL.

Photobucket
And my new favourite accessories!
Rings are from Cineleisure Lvl 3, bunch of bracelets from H&M (going for the more casual-sixteen-year-old-babysitter's-club look hahahaha -> looks like DIYed beads & friendship bracelets no?)

Ok I need to play Sims Social now.
I haven't done so in a while & apparently the Valentine's Day items just came out!

Vanity Trove

Tuesday, February 07, 2012
So the other day Vanity Trove sent me their December box of goodies! Inspired by the Japanese fukuburuko, every month you will receive a box of beauty products for you to try out. It works like a grab-bag: you never know what you'll get, but each box is carefully packaged by the staff to provide you with a "beautiful surprise"!

Photobucket
This was my box! It arrived in a SmartPac box so you don't have to worry about it getting damaged! The Vanity Trove box itself is also extremely sturdy.

Photobucket
The box works like a pull-out shelf, and on the left is a quick glance at some of the items inside that were nestled on "bedding".

Photobucket
And here are the items in it!

I received:
Skin Inc voucher
2 SnailStreet masks
Dann's Daily organic coffee beans
Mini Lancome mascara
Mini Lancome youth extract
2 SK-II products
SkinC serum

Photobucket
Close-up! Coffee beans and face masks not featured here.

Photobucket
I was especially keen to try the SK-II products because I always see their advertisements on TV ("SK-II Pitera! Skin so soft & smooth!" *astonishingly pale Asian celeb slides hand across face*) but their products are pretty expensive!

That's the good thing about the Vanity Trove concept - you get to try out lots of different products that you normally wouldn't have access to! January's box for example, contains a Clinique moisturizer as one of the products.

I featured the SkinC serum on the right mostly because the small blue things in it look really cool LOL.
Can't wait to try it!

Photobucket

Here's how it works basically: for $25/month (or $300 for 13 months), you'll get each month's Vanity Trove delivered to your doorstep with different products each time for you to try out! They also have gift options of 1, 3, 6 and 12 month subscriptions for you to purchase on behalf of someone else too.

Bukit Brown Cemetery

Friday, February 03, 2012
Had an assignment for Sociology of Religion to take photos of something to do with a religion/faith different from your own. I decided to go to Bukit Brown Cemetery, which is one of the few remaining cemeteries with graves since all bodies thereafter have to be cremated.

I wanted to learn the meanings behind burning offerings & grave features, like how there are these lion statues at the "entrance" to the grave. Most of the time people think of religion with respect to the living - how religion controls/guides your life - so I felt religion & death would be interesting.

So anyway... I completed my assignment, handed it up on time... & then was told I had to re-do it simply because I am half Chinese, so it's not "different" enough. Alaric too, had to re-do his, although both of us can't even read Chinese.

I suppose the assumption is that Chinese = Buddhist. And European = Protestant/Catholic. Which means that as mix-blood I'm left with Hinduism & Islam. Which 90% of the class also did, since obviously a vast majority are Chinese & Christian churches are boring hahahahaha (no seriously what... they're too modern compared to temples!) (at my church I could maybe take a picture of a Powerpoint slide)

P.S. I'm doing Hinduism in the end!

It's a shame because Buddhism (my project would have eventually culminated in that) is interesting to me, because of how it's actually more of a way of life/philosophy rather than a worshipping faith.
But since my photo-taking went to naught, I might as well post up some of the photos here!

Photobucket
A gate as an "entrance" to one of the graves I suppose?
I can't tell which it leads to though, because none seem related.

Photobucket
Lots of monkeys running around, chilling atop the tombstones.

Photobucket
Anyone care to tell me what this side, mini-tombstone is?
I saw offerings made to both this as well as the main tombstone itself.

Photobucket

Photobucket
One of Bukit Brown's significant graves due to the Sikh guards.

Photobucket

Wtf I Googled "Chew Geok Leong" & it actually appears on Foursquare.com because someone checked-in at his grave -_- -_- -_- -_-
Google also tells me he was a former Qing Dynasty official.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Skort from Bangkok.

Photobucket

I brought the heels & left them in the car, wearing sandals to take the pictures.
Not crazy enough to climb around in heels.

OOH GIRL YOU NASTY. AND YOUR BUTT IS TASTY.

I actually wanted to Act Yi Ge fashion blogger & just post outfit photos with some of the surroundings & no words so I would look cool but... I can't do it. I always have nonsense to say one way or another. And I don't channel that "cool" vibe hahaha #fail.
