Do you want to be using a credit card that gives you loads of deals & privileges? :D
Who doesn't? I hope to get something out of my expenditures!

There's a card for young adults that will offer you that & more...

Photobucket

It's a credit card targeted at students & understands the way we live, love, party, dine, wine and unwind!
The card's 1-for-1 deals are specially centered around those that would interest youths like you & I, like shopping, clubs, coffee, karaoke & movies!

Photobucket

The Maybank eVibes Card is a S$500 Credit Limit Credit Card especially for tertiary students, with no minimum income or guarantor required!

The S$500 credit limit ensures you don't overspend & is especially convenient as the credit card eStatement is available online 24/7 for you to refer to anytime!

Photobucket

These are just some of the deals available!

At Cathay Cineplexes for example, you buy one movie ticket & get another free!
And this offer is valid on Fridays - Sundays, including public holidays & their eves!
w(°o°)w
I watch loads of movies so I especially love this!

For karaoke fanatics...

Here's what I might use my card for:

Hehe & another thing I'd use it for... iTunes!
With eVibes, every S$1 spent gives you 1 additional credit card point!

This same deal applies to GMarket & Groupon! I've bought travel deals from Groupon before, imagine if those expenses equated to credit card points? I'd have a few hundred to use right now!

Aside from their 1-for-1 deals, they also have other promotions (titled "Special Promotions" on their website) that feature different deals at different times! Like right now one of the deals they have is for agoda.com, whereby you'll get a 6% discount off your total booking!
Here's how you save on those holidays you want to go for!

Photobucket

This card is really awesome for youths like us! :D
I love how the deals/promotions feature so many of the places I usually go to or shop at!

NSF men that have been accepted into an institution in the list above are also eligible!
The NSF boys are luckier because they're eligible for the card throughout NS + tertiary education...
Pft! Unfair! That's a total of at least 5 years of eligibility!

Poetree

Monday, April 09, 2012
Hello! I'm quite excited today to introduce some bath & body products from France, and so coincidentally from the area my dad currently lives in! Hehe feels awesome to have a connection to my French side; products like these are a really common theme back in Provence!
Watch my vlog below for an introduction!

Poetree products from France

"Like" the Poetree Facebook page for updates on new products & promotions!

Below are some photos I took during my trips back to visit my dad:
Photobucket
Monastery with a lovely field of lavender!

Photobucket

Photobucket
Visited a castle in the area; France has lots & lots of castles in the countryside!

Photobucket
This was taken in Avignon itself.
La Provence is also the name of the regional newspaper.

Photobucket
And this is me at my dad's place way back in 2008!
You can see the huge lavender bush on the left, and the plantations in front (cherries).
In Provence it's practically impossible not to be within walking distance of a vineyard or other plantation if you live in the countryside!

Photobucket
Here are some of the French bath & body products stocked by Poetree!

Photobucket

Poetree is committed to genuine quality & craftsmanship, which is why Le Château du Bois & Une Olive en Provence were picked as their partners due to their rich heritage & commitment to rigorous product standards.

Both of the brands' products are made with natural plant extracts with no animal testing or animal-derived ingredients involved at all!

Photobucket

Une Olive en Provence is the first brand to focus on developing a cosmetic line centered around the olive, which has always been known to have many virtues: highly moisturizing, relaxing, and regenerative as well as having anti-oxidants.

The label "extra virgin" also means that only the quality freshly-harvest olives are used in creating the oil, & that no chemicals are added!

Photobucket

Le Château du Bois' items feature lavender, another popular feature of Provence.
Their heritage dates back to 1820! :O
It started out as family trade with lavender fields passed down from generation to generation until today!

You really have to get to smell pure lavender as a plant or as dried up flowers in sachets!

The smell of lavender is definitely very relaxing & soothing :)
In aromatherapy, essential oil of fine lavender is prized for its healing & antiseptic qualities too!

Photobucket
This is the first product I tried, which is a body & hair olive oil soap!
I've never really seen any products being sold as both body soap & shampoo, but I really loved the texture when I used it! It gives off a really nice smell too, awesome for those hot showers

Photobucket

Photobucket
Super awesome on the skin! It leaves it feeling damn smooth & soft!

Next I tried the lavender body scrub from Le Château du Bois, which also contains olive extracts!

Photobucket
The seal across the cap & the "scrub" bits inside.

Photobucket

Love the smell!

I think I personally prefer lavender a bit more because I like natural scents but maybe if you like something lighter & less herbaceous then you should go for the mildly-scented olive products!

Photobucket

Photobucket
Tested it on my left arm, which ended up so much softer to the touch than my right!

Photobucket

Olive oil exfoliating scrub
Olive oil soap

The Une Olive en Provence soap bars! The smell of these are little more muted than the body soap, so if you prefer something smelling a little more discreet then you can try this :)

Photobucket

Body lotion with extra virgin olive oil

They have this body lotion in hand cream & foot cream versions as well!
Poetree also stocks their olive oil liquid hand soap; would have loved to try that!
I can haz nice smelling hands after every wash!

Photobucket
~ nice smell again! ~
I think body lotion can often be a really great substitute for perfume!

Ok let's take a look at the smaller creams by Le Château du Bois, which really features so many different speciality kinds! They have creams specific to your hands, feet and even legs!

Photobucket

Nourishing & protective hand cream with fine lavender
Ultra-rich & tonic foot cream with fine lavender

I personally am more interested in the foot cream precisely because the foot is usually super ignored compared to our face, arms legs... etc. The skin on my feet scars more easily than the rest of my body & also tends to be drier since it obviously faces the elements a lot more!

Photobucket

Refreshing & tonic gel with fine lavender for legs
Nourishing body lotion for a smooth effect with fine lavender

I think it's really cool they have a product specially just for your legs, because most people only slather on body lotion! Well the Refreshing & Tonic Gel is JUST for your legs! It eases fatigue & freshens legs! Definitely a worthwhile product to try.

1) Store in the fridge to enhance the cooling effect.
(you will feel a tingling sensation!)
2) Apply both in the mornings & evenings.
3) Gently massage your leg, starting at the ankle upwards.

Photobucket

Exfoliating shower cream with fine lavender for body
Shower cream with fine lavender for body

The first one is the exfoliating body scrub I mentioned earlier on!
If you prefer non-scrub body soaps then you should try the second one instead!

Gonna try the hand cream...

Photobucket

Photobucket

It's also good to apply hand cream on your elbows because the skin there is very rough!

And the foot cream...

Photobucket

This foot cream moisturizes & accelerates skin cell renewal!
If your skin is VERY dry, apply the cream then put on a pair of socks & go to sleep with it.

The good thing about their moisturizing creams is that they're very moisturizing, but don't leave you with that icky sticky oily feeling after application!
Your skin quickly absorbs it & will just feel smooth to the touch, not oily :)

POETREE PROMOTION

I know my mom especially likes hand creams to keep the skin on her hands smooth, so maybe you want to get your mom a set for the upcoming Mother's Day? :)

Phuket Part 2

Here's my continuation to our 3D2N trip to Andara Resort in Phuket!
The first post can be found HERE.

So in the previous update I stopped the blogpost at our visit to Kamala Beach, where Andara has its own private beach lounge with a full functioning bar, shower & WIFI!

After lounging at the beach for a while, we came back to our suites to freshen up a little (especially the girls who got capsized by the banana boat) & get ready for lunch in the main city area!

I decided to go into the pool for a bit before a quick shower!
In the end... Alaric & I were the only ones who entered the pools at all for the whole trip O.O
Everyone else was always busy getting ready or doing something else!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Off to lunch! We walked around for ages looking for this restaurant Bryan was insisting on.
The girls got grumpy but we finally found it! The place is called No.1 Seafood & it's very big but the entrance is rather hidden. It's too difficult for me to describe where so if you happen to come across it then now you know it's safe to eat there! The food is pretty good!

Photobucket

I mean it when I say I really like Thai food, but I realise that in reality I just love these two or three main dishes... Probably doesn't exactly encapsulate "Thai food" per se!

I always order prawn tom yam soup (I prefer the sour over the spicy one) & the cashew nut chicken! And... yeah that's about it. These two dishes would make me a very happy girl!

And also...

Photobucket

MANGO STICKY RICE.
LOVE.

Ok that's also because in general I love mangoes (#3 on my list of most loved fruits)(I'm actually quite a fruit person) so I technically eat 70% mango & 30% rice... But it's still a nice change from mango on its own I suppose! Is there anywhere to get good mango sticky rice in Singapore by the way? :)

Photobucket

On the tuktuk back to the hotel after lunch!
Stupid face from the wind & ok I will never wear tube dresses again... my shoulders look too weird.

Pictures below taken while on the tuktuk! #obamanotbad

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
Awesome no? Managed to get such a clear shot!

My camera is the Panasonic Lumix G3!

Photobucket

Back at Andara, where they brought us to one of their huge pool villas for a special cook-out dinner!

Their pool villas are huge! The one we went to isn't even the largest omg.

The villas are all fully equipped with a huge kitchen, multiple bathrooms (individual room ones as well as common ones near the pool/living room), seating areas, laundry areas and even a garage!

AND THIS IS THE POOL:
Photobucket

Gorgeous & huge infinity pool!

Photobucket

Living room!
Photobucket

Photobucket
This is the entrance to the master bedroom, which has its own private garden wtf O.O

Photobucket
THE BATHTUB. Which looks out into the sea!

Photobucket
Random seating area; as if not enough lol.

The little seating area is like... double the size of my bedroom here.
I am totally going to retire overseas & hopefully everyone can live on the same street! Fun!

Photobucket
One of the other smaller bedrooms, with a balcony looking out at the sea!

Photobucket
Courtyard?
All the other bedrooms are downstairs by the way!
On the entry level is the pool, living room, kitchen & master bedroom!

Photobucket
The Andara staff setting up the cooking area for us!
Ok not really a cooking area... the REAL cooking was obviously not done by us.
*sigh of relief*

Photobucket
Hehe a little cocktail bar set-up!

Photobucket
Wendy checking out the pool!

Photobucket

Photobucket
Another villa, seen from our pool! This one has a much larger garden but doesn't have the view!
But this villa would probably be good for families with kids, so that they can play in the big garden & you don't have to worry about them being at the edge of pool/cliff.

Photobucket

Photobucket
The tom yam soup station! :D
And also pineapple rice, but I don't care about that lol.
Photobucket
Cheesie & Qiuting taking iPhone snaps!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
This is the kitchen, where the professionals are making the real dinner haha.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Time to make these Thai popiah-like roll thingys! :D
Eekean's sipping on a martini in the background. Don't trust her with food O.O

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
Alaric in the pool!
It's cool how the water surface is practically opaque.

Qiuting getting a start on the tom yam soup:

Photobucket

Okay, she looks quite enthusiastic & keen in making it.
Maybe it will be edible.

Photobucket

EEYER I don't want to drink her soup already! Her attitude like this so chapalang one!

Photobucket

Leave it to the professionals!
Tom yam soup is actually quite simple to make!
If you have someone to prepare & set out all the ingredients for you that is...
And in order. Lol.

Photobucket
The final product!
Ok we are going to starve tonight then...

Photobucket
Ooh Andara staff BBQ-ing food for us!
Quite fun to get a villa & organise a cookout one of the nights of your holiday!

Photobucket

Photobucket
Cheesie trying her hand at being a bartender!

The guy is like... "dafuq, can or not?" *maximum skepticism*
And Cheesie is like... "bitch please I'm a natural" #likeasir

Photobucket
The 3 guys busy talking guy stuff & ignoring the girls.

Photobucket
Eekean trying to make drinks too!

Actually after a while everyone wanted to make their own drinks lol.

Pool time!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
Haha you can see my ugly frog crawl!

This part of the pool is pretty deep, only Qiuting & I could touch the bottom hahaha.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
Hello from the pool!

The rest all went to stuff their faces with food first lol.
We technically came right from lunch to this villa O.O
But when you're on holiday you stock up on yummy food!

Photobucket

I love eating corn!
We also had tom yam soup of course, along with pineapple rice and some other Thai food! :D

Back to our suites after dinner:

Photobucket
Trying out someone's Harry Potter frames.

It was still quite early so we decided to head back into the town area to look for night shoping!

Photobucket
There's a street market area selling clothes, but most of the styles are quite ugly...
If you look hard you can still find stuff to buy (Alaric got a cute tshirt!) but Phuket isn't really a shopping place! For that there's still no comparison to good ol' Bangkok!

So anyway half the group decided to get a massage while the rest of decided to just walk around.

Pictures of some sights you'd never see in Singapore:

Photobucket
There's a girl (or tranny?) dancing around the pole!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Played Taboo that night!
Haha for both nights Qiuting & I were always on the winning team ^^
The rest owe us forfeits lor... they never did them!

DAY 3

The next morning we all got up much later because we were really tired so we just headed out to the nearby streets to eat! I found the food pretty good although it was a restaurant randomly picked.

Photobucket
The streets near our hotel are so pretty!
Very nicely decorated.

Photobucket

I bought these sunglasses 200 Baht I think!
Everyone said I looked damn stupid but they eventually admitted that it's cute (^_^)

Photobucket
LOL at Huiwen's hair behind me.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Some of the others decided to chill by the pool while we went to Andara's spa!

Andara Spa:
Photobucket

Photobucket
Picking our massages at the spa!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Qiuting & I got the traditional Thai massage, Wendy got Swedish! Not sure about the rest.

I really like Thai massages compared to the rare ones I had in Singapore because I like how they help you stretch & crack your bones too rather than just kneading (which can be rather painful & unpleasant)!

Photobucket

THIS IS THE MASSAGE ROOM:
Photobucket
O.O
Bigger than my room again!
There's a small fountain at the back with a seating area!

Photobucket
Basin & toilet on the side.

Photobucket
The sound of trickling water was really relaxing!

The atmosphere of the room was really what made the whole massage so awesome.
Seriously. Damn shiok!
Impossible to not fall asleep!
Bryan said he was woken up by his own snoring hahaha.

Photobucket
Quick feet massage!

I really liked my massage! The masseuse will check with you what kind of intensity you want (I really hate painful massages even if they supposedly help to knead out the kinks in muscles... etc) as well as whether you have any areas to focus on and/or avoid during the massage.

I fell into such deep slumber that I think she had to poke me awake hahaha.

Photobucket
Lemongrass tea after the massage! I'm not very advetnurous in food consumption (beverages included, especially anything that's natural... like all the weird herbal brews... rather take my chances with that old Whatever canned drink) but they kept serving us this drink at the resort so I gave in & tried it.
Hahaha ok it's quite nice lah.
Sort of like chrysanthemum tea.

I finished my massage a little earlier than the rest so I went back to our suite to get into the pool!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Yes... I insisted on my sunglasses...
I've worn them once for ONE photo at home since I got back haha.

Just realised I have the same pose in the pictures below, with different backgrounds.
O.O

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
IT'S CUTE WHAT NO?

Photobucket

Photobucket

Packed up our bags & headed over to Silk Restaurant (the resort's main restaurant) for some good-bye snacks before leaving for the airport! It was terribly saddening to leave our lovely suite :(
GIVE ME BACK MY ANDARA BED *sobs*

Photobucket

Photobucket
Yummy crab/prawn fritters!

Took some pictures of the exterior of Silk Restaurant, which overlooks the resort's main pool & the sea!

Photobucket
Fountain & bar in between the restaurant & the infinity pool.

Photobucket
Outdoor dining area.

Photobucket
The lovely hotel infinity pool!

Photobucket
And here's the last photo of the outside of Silk Restaurant!

A few years ago being sponsored a trip like this would not remotely have been on my mind as a possibility. Damn, back then (I first started my blog in 2005) a blog was just yet another random fad that was passing through! Most of my friends lost interest in blogging after 1 or 2 years.

I never actually had any real thoughts of closing my blog, strangely enough. I never got bored of it; it was a hobby, a habit, something pretty natural to do every few days. And wow, it's been a whopping 7 years since then! I hope it only gets better from here :) My blog is one of my most prized possessions, I never thought at any point that my blog would become such an intrinsic part of my life. It never even occurred to me how much it has been a part of my life the last few years till I type this now. Very glad I one day picked that loser-ish moniker sophielicious for my very first blog URL! :')

Thank you to everyone who followed me for any period of time & thank you to all the lovely people I met along the way! For this trip, thank you to Wendy for making it possible in the first place!
Wendy is honestly a very generous person, she's the one on top but she always shares things with others!

Thank you for Qiuting & Cheesie!
The idea of one day having "blogging friends" was like... #dafuqisthat a few years ago.
But now bloggers are some of the people I talk to the most!

And finally of course many thanks to the generosity of Andara & the very warm welcome by their friendly staff! Service staff are always what can really make or break any kind of experience! :x

I would highly recommend Andara to all my friends, family & readers! They have many different types of accommodation (hotel rooms, suites, villas) to suit different budgets while providing a great experience & environment overall! They are also able to accommodate any kind of event you may have in mind (wedding, company functions...) at their villas or at their restaurant!

They are currently still running a STAY MORE, SAVE MORE promotion which would allow you to get 25% - 30% off your booking! The minimum is just 2 or 4 days! Our trip was 3D2N :)

Details HERE.
Mention that you were referred from our blogs to get 50USD in Andara spa credits.
Go try the awesome massages we had!
(^_^)
