Phuket - Preview

Friday, March 23, 2012
Here's a quick introductory post to my trip to Phuket last week, thanks to Wendy (Xiaxue) & the kind Andara Resort, Phuket staff!

The resort is seriously gorgeous O.O And it's super convenient because they will fetch you around on a buggy anywhere you want! (Even from one villa to another, or even just to the lobby - which frankly, is within very easy walking distance LOL *lazy*) They also send us into the nearby town/food areas, as well as the Andara Beach Lounge on Kamala Beach!

Some pictures taken by the Andara staff at their beach lounge!

Photobucket
I'm the only one shading my face... T_T
The rest seem completely immune to the sun! I could barely open my eyes.

Photobucket
Group shot at the hotel lobby!
In total, 12 of us went on this trip & we were split into 2 villas!
And each villa has its own private pool!

Photobucket
The master bedroom! It's damn big!

Photobucket
This is our suite's pool!
Wendy's villa's interior is the same, but their pool is on the roof so they have a gorgeous view looking out into the sea! Too bad we didn't have time to use it because we were busy doing other stuff!
Like... getting massages :D

Hehehe tuk-tuk ride back to our hotel for dinner!

Which was at... one of Andara's 26 pool villas. Which... is even bigger & nicer than ours O.O
When we walked in we were all like "WAAH"! "OMG SO BIG"!
These villas would be great for receptions or events!

Andara Resort provides arrangements for events such as weddings (both Thai or Western styles are possible) at their villas, as well as their Silk Restaurant, which offers Thai fine-dining!

Photobucket
Yes... this is the ginormous pool at the villa, whose full length can't even fit into the photo!

♥ Imagine getting married in front of a view like this?

Andara Resort is currently running a STAY MORE, SAVE MORE promotion from March - October 2012! With this, you will get a 20% - 30% discount on normal room rates!
You will also get a 50USD spa credit if you mention that you were referred from our blogs :)

We went for the massages at the resort & it was awesome O.O
Each private room was so big! They each had their own bathroom, with flowing water features.
Impossible not to fall asleep & feel mega relaxed after your massage!
The one I took was the Traditional Thai Massage (some other took Swedish), highly recommended!

More details about the Andara promotion HERE!

Thank you once again to Andara Resort for the lovely holiday!
Will update with the full photos (all 280 of them) soon! :D

Farm

Monday, March 19, 2012
I'm currently taking a Science module called Plants & Society (I've also already taken Genes & Society as well as Drugs & Society - #wtf), which involves 4 field trips during the semester!

Wahaha I was actually very excited for the field trips... It beats rotting in class & it's so nostalgic because field trips are such a... schooling-in-uniform thing! Now I don't have to wear a uniform anymore & I'm still going on a field trip! *fist pump*

So anyway for one of the trips we went to a farm located at Kranji/Chuo Chu Kang. I brought my camera because we had to take pictures for the assignment, which obviously also proved useful because us tech-savvy, lazy kids of today's Gen Y (or Gen Z) use gadgets to take down notes instead -_-

I took pictures of the information boards but still wrote down actual notes with a pen & paper (practically considered medieval today). Lots of other students simply recorded whole presentations on their phone/camera O.O

Oh yes the farm runs a Weekend Farm, where you can buy the fresh produce on the spot & engage in... farm activities I suppose. But it's an agricultural farm so don't expect horses & cows & chickens.

Photobucket
Ginormous fish in a murky tank. Not sure why it's here.

Photobucket
This is actually quite cool. It is a SEED SORTING MACHINE.
The "needles" each individually pick up one seed & place it in its respective soil pots!
100% accurate & efficient!
Wtf where got farm so tech-savvy one!

Photobucket
Young seedlings grown individually in each soil pocket.

Photobucket
Accidental front blur - back sharp photo.

Photobucket
Hehehe I used to love growing green beans in soaked cotton wool at home!
It's really quite exciting to see the plant grow out from the dicots (H2 Biology student here *waves*).

Photobucket
Automated irrigation system. Ok the seed sorter was more impressive.

Photobucket
The friend I'm taking the module with! This is Erika & she is actually my oldest friend in Singapore.
She was from the same primary school (CHIJ Kellock - I entered in P4) & secondary school, then we ended up in the same faculty & major -_- LOL

Me: Eh wanna go for the Soci career talk? Got free refreshments.
Erika: Cheapo
Me: I don't see you saving up enough to go to Tokyo
Erika: !!! low blow!

*troll*

Photobucket
Accidental face cut-off but ok got nice print on dress.

Photobucket
Massive forehead aptly cut out of photo #goodjob

Photobucket
Workers using the tilling machine to prepare the soil for the seedlings!

Photobucket
Grumpy (ok old) dog residing on the farm! *pet*

Photobucket
This is a vacuum cooler that lowers the temperatures of the vegetables to approx 4 degrees Celsius in 30 minutes - thereby increasing their shelf-life by slowing the senescence process.
.
.
Yes "senescence" is just a cheem way of saying aging/rotting.

This farm is the first such farm in Singapore to have this by the way!

Photobucket
Workers packing the vegetables!
This farm only produces leafy green veggies because they're very popular among Singaporeans.

So much work to do this week :(

Out & About

Friday, March 16, 2012
As you read this, I should be in Phuket with the rest! :D

Here's just a quick update about a day when we were all incredibly bored so we headed to Illuma to catch a movie (This Means War - which wasn't fantastic...)! Everyone should just go to Illuma for movies because it's SO EMPTY. You'll never have to worry about cinemas being fully booked & you'll have awesome seats! They still have quite a lot of restaurants open too, just that you have to source them out amidst all the construction work.

Eric, Yutaki & I! I wanted to do cute collages & whatnot for these pictures because Yutaki is really good at them but... I couldn't be bothered T_T too much work & I needed to pack for Phuket!

Apparently Miyake does this pose all the time haha.

Thankfully this looks ok from far... If you zoom in on my face I look so bloody retarded winking!

Reminds me of that thing guys say... "hot from far, far from hot" :x

Headed over to Haji Lane after the movie; we went into this shop that does console game rentals! It's kind of like a LAN shop, except for Wiis... etc. Yutaki & I played some zombie game & I kept shouting at him because his gun would be EMPTY & he'd keep shooting at the screen still -_-

AYG contributing to the game LOL
So that's why we kept dying. Couldn't kill the 2nd boss :(

Went a little further down to Shisha! We tried Bubblegum flavour & it sort of did taste like it I guess.

Yutaki likes to use the High Key mode on my camera (Lumix G3) & for me it's always incredibly blurry. But... it sort of works for him.

My traitor of a camera decides to blur me out all the time & focus on Yutaki >:(

Hahahaha look like I'm doing the Para Para. Do I gesticulate when I talk?
Never particularly thought about it.

Wahlao what an AYG in the top lol.

Geez he got all these good shots consecutively! They weren't even like... 4 decent out of 10 (the case for most people haha). Camwhores better than most girls...
Ok sorry I can't write more because I've to rush to the airport!

I had a blogshop shoot from 1 - 5pm before that.
Got home at 5.30pm & packed in 30 minutes.
#likeaboss

Hope I don't get sunburnt!
I don't care about staying pale/fair, it's just that I'll burn, peel & be pale again -_-
On the other hand my body will keep the tanline for 2 years
(NOT KIDDING)
(tanline on mah butt)

Have a good weekend! :D
I'll be back on Sunday night!

Nuffnang is 5!

Tuesday, March 13, 2012
O.O I'm one of the last Nuffnang bloggers to blog about their birthday party!
I think the last person is Yutaki, but he's in a category of his own since his blogposts & photos only turn up 6 to 12 months later #troll.

The birthday bash was held at Swissotel Stamford, in a private function room on the 69th floor!
Great view of the city area ^_^

[FML YUTAKI JUST TOLD ME HE'S ALSO DOING HIS POST NOW]
[OMG I GOTTA ~ HUSTLE ~]

Random pictures taken above while Yutaki was trying to adjust my camera's settings!

I first signed up at Nuffnang's website in January 2009! I remember blogging about it too, because my mom had just cut off my allowance then (pre-uni break) hahahaha.
I was allowance-less for 8 months O.O
So yeah... best excuse then to try out the be-paid-to-blog thing!

I officially signed the contract sometime in May last year, so I've been with Nuffnang as a "talent"/contracted blogger for slightly less than a year! :D

Photobucket

The Nuffnang staff (called Nuffies) did up this cute backdrop with accessories for us to take photos with!
It's a really great idea for parties; you can do it for your birthday, wedding, baby shower, miscellaneous vain girls' gathering... Lots of cute photos!

Photobucket

Photobucket
Ming, one of the co-founders of Nuffnang, giving a short speech! :D
Tim is the other co-founder & he's getting married to Malaysian blogger Audrey! Their meme proposal video has over 2 million views! It's very sweet; I cried watching it hahaha T_T

Photobucket

Photobucket

Chua En Lai from The Noose did stand-up comedy! He took on one of his The Noose roles, which was the Thai newscaster (or random personality, not sure lol)!

Photobucket
They had to do a "pole dance" around the mike stand O.O LOL

Photobucket
One of the other challenges: Drawing a caricature of Ming! It was naturally left to Wendy because she's the best at drawing lol. Our table won because of her drawing!

Photobucket
Photobucket

Photos taken with other Nuffnang bloggers below!
(and interspersed with photos ripped from the official photographer of the night)

Photobucket

Peggy, Jayne & Nuffnang cards!

Photobucket

Brad, Beatrice & Nuffnang props!

Ok all the rest of the photos are the official event ones! Whenever there's an event like this I feel terribly uninspired to take photos because I can just wait for the mega nice official ones ^_^

Photobucket
Wahahaha Wendy & I got the right camera! #victorykid.jpg

Photobucket
I got the right camera again! #doublevictorykidjpg

Photobucket
And lastly with Ming!
(these are photos of printed photos, that's why it's so grainy)

Photobucket
This was my table! The most enthusiastic one in the Q&A challenge :D

And below is Chua Enlai coming over to get poor Qiuting for the pole dance challenge!
He must have picked her because she has the sacrificial lamb look.
Or the pole-dancing-whore look LOLOL.

Photobucket

Photobucket
HAHAHAHAHA THIS PHOTO OF QIUTING IS DAMN FUNNY!

I seriously LOL-ed...

CAKE CUTTING TIME:

Photobucket

I love the cake! So cute! Hehe that's Ming & Tim, the two co-founders on each side of the cake!
I don't know whether the Nuffnang birthday cakes in the other countries (Nuffnang has offices across Asia - Thailand, China... etc & also Australia) have to feature the two of them as well haha.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Ming cutting the cake surrounded by the Nuffies!

Group photo of my table :D
Spot Valerie, Wendy, Qiuting, Ming, Nat Ho, Brad, Beatrice, Jayne & Vernon!

Photobucket
And... here's a totally irrelevant picture of my bracelet & bag for the night.

Nuffnang events are always a lot of fun! Can't wait for the next one :)
Happy 5th Anniversary Nuffnang!

[EDIT]

Photobucket
Wahahaha I even had time to do this! And screenshot it & blog it here!
I was furiously refreshing his blog while posting my post up LOL *competitive*
*cheap thrill*
