Blog(shop)-ing

Saturday, November 20, 2010
I'm busy with exam preparations now so I'm just gonna upload photos from blogshops!

Photobucket
I quite like this photo done by Clothes & People! Since I'm having exams they got another girl to take over for me, so go take a look.

Photobucket
Okay lah okay I have to be fair and upload her photo as well hahahaha. Pretty right?

And below are photos done with PolkaDotPigs. The studio was the same one as the Essentials shoot I did with Xiaxue last time (a.k.a insanely crazily far out in the East -but cabfare was actually okay-). Sigh the photos are supposed to be larger but as usual Photobucket can't figure that out. Oh well!

So I've started to get approached by Mass Comms students for interviews/questions about blogging.
I remember Xiaxue used to complain about these and how she has no time for them. Haha so now that I've started getting some, am I now considered a "blogger"? ^^

Anyway since I spent time answering these, I figured I might as well post some up. The girl (from NTU) mentioned that she emailed a few other bloggers but that only Qiuting and I replied and I mean I understand how it's like to need stuff for schoolwork so... I agreed!

1) At what age did you start blogging and what made you decide to do so?
I first created a blog in Secondary 2 because it was the latest trend, but didn’t actually or actively blog till I went into Secondary 3 and a class of active bloggers, where we all spent time designing individual or matching blogskins and leaving comments at each other’s blogs.

I enjoyed blogging, switched blog URLs a few times and wound up where I am today with my current blog.

2) Did you ever expect your blog to attract so many readers when you first started blogging?
Not at all! It began really just more as an ordinary participating-in-the-current-trend thing. One day I decided to install a statcounter and kept checking back because I was really anxious - What if no one read my blog except a few of my friends? Maybe even my secondary school schoolmates all thought my blog/I am boring?

Hence I was really pleasantly shocked to realise that at that point, 400 people were reading my blog daily! It was really completely unexpected at that point!

4) Knowing that you have about 1500 unique views/day (do correct me if I’m wrong!), do you feel that you have to be careful with how you express yourself whenever you blog?
The most problematic would be yes, how I express myself. Often no matter what I talk about, I tend to get comments from people who disagree with me and these comments aren’t always nice or constructive. It becomes very difficult to please/NOT offend readers when there is a fairly large variety of them.

7) Have you ever considered becoming a full-time blogger? Why or why not?
Haha no not at all. There are very few bloggers who would be able to live on the income made from blogging alone, and I already have the opportunity to study and get a normal job. I don’t think blogging is a particularly stable job unless you are Xiaxue and there can only be one of her, so I need a back-up plan for sure!

SO CUTE OMG MUST WATCH! Hilarious :o face hahaha. This video has been on Facebook for a while and finally someone uploaded it to Youtube!

P.S. Actually now for unique views I'm averaging 1800-2000+ unique views! There was one day (7th November, a Tuesday) where I hit my highest of all time: 2430 unique views and 4277 hits! I have no idea why at all cause I mean it wasn't a special day or anything. But of course I'm not complaining (:

P.P.S. I actually recorded a video of myself singing hahahaha. Will upload it soon.

It's as easy as...

Last Monday I brought Sherry along to the premiere of Easy A, which opens in cinemas here on the 25th of November!

Stupid Sherry was super late (although usually it's the other way round haha) but luckily Qiuting happened to be at the premiere too if not I would have to sit alone. Watching a movie alone would be so depressing, especially at a premiere full of invited bloggers! Like I can totally imagine everyone thinking "Wtf does she have no friends?! So cheapskate; free movie so die-die she'll watch it even if she's alone?"

Photobucket

Anyway I REALLY like Easy A! It's funny and light hearted without having to resort to lameass and unbelievable scenarios of stupidity by one character.

Will try not to release spoilers, but basically Easy A is about Olive (played by Emma Stone) and how a little lie she told her best friend about having lost her virginity escalated into full-scale school gossip. Thereafter, she decides to embrace this rumour because at least now she gets noticed and guys start talking to her (albeit for the wrong reasons)!

Obviously eventually it gets really bad and students even start asking for her to be expelled, led by a group of hilariously anal and prissy Christian students (Amanda Bynes plays the ringleader). I found this super funny cause usually it's the "bitchy" gang, but here it's like the wanna-do-gooders.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Amanda Bynes (on the left) has grown super fat by the way. But she's so funny in this movie!

Photobucket

Photobucket
I think Emma Stone is pretty and she looks hot in the corset+jeans cause she's got nice long legs, but here she looks kinda fat. The shorts are really not doing her a favour, probably cause they're a bit too small. Sounds judgmental, but I expect celebs to be practically perfect!

Photobucket
I love Olive's parents, they're super funny too! All couples should be like that, even when they get older and have kids!

No idea if I made the movie sound like a typical chick flick, but I really like how Olive's character stays grounded and humorous throughout.

Please stop asking me where the mustard cardigan is from D:

Photobucket
I look like I'm in pain here hohoho.

And... two random photos of Alaric at his golf lessons:

I've just started my study break, meaning I've no school this week! Sigh public holidays (today) lose their appeal when you don't have school anyway. Taking photos of my outfits daily are also becoming a chore cause I'm just studying at home/Alaric's so... I haven't washed my hair since Monday night. (IT'S NORMAL LAH OK! Lots of people don't wash their hair sometimes!)

I wanted to study in school today but my friend just Tweeted a photo of the queue to enter the library and... holy shit it is MASSIVE! Why must everyone be so hardworking?! Don't these foreign scholars and exchange students (I kid, their grades don't count, so only the foreign scholars) have dorms and common rooms to study in?!
Wahlao eh they already flood the Dean's List and screw up the bell curve for everyone else, can't they at least leave the library for us small brains to study in? They seriously need to take a break and go watch something on Tudou. And profit from being able to access Facebook while in Singapore.

K bye!

P.S. The title of my post has absolutely nothing to do with the movie title.

Outfits Of The Week

Sunday, November 14, 2010
Gosh I don't even know how to continue normal blog posts after my previous one without them looking pathetically shallow and superficial in comparison... Especially as this whole post is going to be dedicated to clothes :/

Photobucket
Remember that I said I wanted to take of a photo of all the polka-dotted items I acquired recently? The polka-dotted cardigan I waited for a month for the exchange is finally here!
L-R: Tube dress, maxi dress, maxi dress, romper, crop top (top), skirt (bottom), bandage skirt (top), cardigan (bottom).

Anyway so some girls (I assume they are girls) have been asking about what I wear to school/daily so I thought I'd do a post of what I wear everyday! (Instead of OOTD - Outfit Of The Day - posts). I generally am in some sort of top+shorts+flower in my hair combination. I recently bought a mustard cardigan so I've been wearing it to death as seen below:

Monday
Photobucket
With my trusty laptop!

Photobucket

Tuesday
Photobucket
Studying for my final Chinese test!

The listening comprehension was so annoying:
"Xiao Tu he Xiao Lu shang shan cai muogu"
a.k.a Small Rabbit and Small Wolf climb the mountain to pick mushrooms -_-

(P.S. We hadn't learn most of these words before so I don't know if my hanyu pinyin or translation is correct)

Photobucket
Second bracelet has two chains (one gold and one black) intertwined with one leather braid, one cloth one and one chain wrapped with lace!

Photobucket
Lace back top ^^ and bracelet from Liquoryce!

Photobucket
Haha this was me trying to capture the lace back. And yes for some reason no photos were taken with my face in them.

Photobucket
Liquoryce has updated with a collection! Go see! :D

Wednesday
Photobucket
Silky-ish top with jeans (I hardly wear jeans, it's far too hot), both from F21. Anyway this was at the studio for Clothes & People! The next few weeks another girl will be modeling their items because I start exams soon :/

Photobucket

Thursday
Photobucket
Name necklace I ordered while in Bangkok (mailed back to Singapore)! The font size turned out a bit too large for my liking; guess I didn't realise my name isn't that long. I wouldn't mind a silver-plated one now!

Photobucket
Didn't wash hair that morning. This is at the lift outside the NUS Library.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Haha. Tshirt and jeans.

Friday
Photobucket
Crop top with lace panels at the side! I really quite like this top from Fondrey, which I featured in an advertorial not too long ago! I've actually worn this top quite a few times to school already but never got round to taking a photo of it :/

Photobucket
Denim shorts are old jeans that I cut up and sewed.

Photobucket
The lace panel, which goes all the way from the bottom till the end of the sleeve. Do go see the newer items from Fondrey!

Photobucket
Some of my bracelets, and a rose corsage tied to my bag which is now hanging in my room to dry so that I can keep it! I got this corsage at an event where I was hired to usher VIPs, one of which was our Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong! More about that another time :D

Saturday
Photobucket
Pink flats I bought in Bangkok (dress included as well), but only just wore out for the first time today.

Photobucket
Bought Pastamania to bring into the cinema. Taking a break from studying by going to catch Due Date at Cine!

Photobucket
:D

Photobucket

Photobucket
Haha. Tshirt and jeans and hoodie.
(P.P.S. I love his fingers! They're so long and slim while mine are short and fat like a little kid that never went through puberty.)

Sunday
Photobucket
Another never-wash-hair day and Alaric in the background and in berms after his golf lessons.

Photobucket

So... there you have it. 7 days of outfits. This week there's a recurring theme of florals + my mustard cardigan, or black + lace haha. Guess I'll try to wear out some of my polka-dotted items this coming week!

OH and my dark brown hair roots are growing out already ): Either my hair grows that fast or my DIY hair dye job was badly done (most likely the latter also considering how it's uneven hohoho).
I never thought about having dyed hair before so now I'm like... do I continue dyeing it?! (What a pain) Am I gonna keep DIY-ing (certainly can't afford hair salons)? Plus it's gonna be really bad for my hair.

Guess I'll just wait and see if it looks weird. I mean right now you can see the roots, but it's still not at the OMGWTFBBQZ IS THAT HIDEOUS SHIT GET AWAY FROM ME! stage yet. So...

Credits to Liquoryce and Fondrey for Tuesday's and Friday's tops respectively!
